The EES Europe 2025 Battery Storage Exhibition was successfully held from May 7 to 9 at the Munich New Fairgrounds. Co-organized by Solar Promotion GmbH and FWTM, the event served as a core component of The Smarter E Europe, taking place concurrently with Intersolar Europe, Power2Drive Europe, and EM-Power Europe at the same venue. Exhibition Space and Exhibitor Numbers Reach New Highs. The 2025 edition attracted 2,737 exhibitors from 57 countries, occupying over 100,000 square meters of exhibition space. Among them, more than 1,090 were specialized energy storage solution providers, with dedicated storage zones spanning approximately 47,000 square meters. Around 107,000 professional visitors from 157 countries and regions attended for networking and business discussions, while accompanying conferences and side events drew over 2,600 participants. Chinese exhibitors once again demonstrated strong performance, with nearly 900 Chinese companies making a prominent appearance—the largest international delegation.

Exhibitor Portfolio Reflects Internationalization and Industry Leadership. Global giants such as LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI were all present, while leading Chinese firms—including CATL, Goldwind Zero Carbon, Kechuang Energy Storage, Hengyi Energy, and Zhongchu Technology—showcased their latest innovations. LG Energy Solution unveiled a 290-square-meter exhibit featuring its full range of solutions, from grid-scale storage to UPS backup batteries and residential systems, and debuted a pilot version of its Battery Passport in Europe. Samsung SDI earned two prestigious The Smarter E Awards for its groundbreaking advancements in both energy storage and electric vehicles. Meanwhile, the Spanish SME Toscano garnered industry acclaim for its COMBI-PRO-MAX compact backup control unit.

Large-Capacity Storage Technologies Emerge as Key Highlights. CATL introduced TENER Stack, the world’s first mass‑producible 9 MWh ultra‑large‑capacity energy storage system, which employs high‑energy‑density cells with five-year zero‑degradation characteristics, achieving a 45% increase in volume utilization and a 50% boost in energy density—enough to charge roughly 150 household electric vehicles. Goldwind Zero Carbon showcased its GoldBlock L700 series along with the GoldStack 2.0 Pro liquid‑cooled storage system, featuring 628 Ah high‑capacity cells that significantly reduce failure rates. Kechuang Group presented the world’s first immersion‑type liquid‑cooled energy storage system, fully submerging cells in a specialized cooling fluid to eliminate safety risks at the source, drawing expressions of interest from energy giants such as Germany’s and Sweden’s Vattenfall.

Safety Innovations and Intelligent Operations Command Widespread Attention. Kechuang Group’s immersion‑type liquid‑cooling technology has become a benchmark for safety, isolating cells from air and temperature through a cooling medium, thereby fundamentally mitigating thermal runaway risks. Concurrently, Kechuang launched an AI‑powered smart energy management system that leverages cell‑level digital twin technology to monitor battery degradation trends in real time and dynamically optimize charging and discharging strategies. Hengyi Energy exhibited cutting‑edge mobile storage solutions and integrated solar‑storage‑charging‑inspection systems, with its OptiPower intelligent energy‑efficiency management platform providing comprehensive coverage across all use cases. These technologies and solutions underscore the industry’s shift from “scale expansion” toward “intelligent operations.”

Bidirectional Charging Special Exhibit Draws Significant Interest. A specially curated “Bidirectional Charging” exhibit captured widespread attention and positive feedback, showcasing key technologies enabling interaction between electric vehicles and the power grid—a milestone marking the transition of V2G technology from concept to large‑scale deployment.

With the implementation of EU battery regulations and the accelerated pace of Europe’s energy transition, the battery storage industry is poised for unprecedented growth opportunities.
