Solar Energy and Photovoltaic Exhibition in Munich, GermanyProfile

Intersolar Europe, the Munich-based solar photovoltaic exhibition in Germany, is the world’s largest and most professional solar energy trade show. With exhibitions and conferences spanning the globe’s most influential markets, we currently host Intersolar Europe, Intersolar USA, Intersolar India, Intersolar South America, and Intersolar China—providing an essential platform for manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers, and service providers.

The smarter E offers exhibitors and visitors a comprehensive portfolio of energy‑related topics. It comprises four distinct exhibitions—Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe, and EM-Power—each with a clearly defined industry focus. At the same time, the interplay among key products and themes within the energy sector is effectively highlighted through the synergy of these events.

This globally significant benchmark event for the photovoltaic industry attracted 3,008 exhibiting companies from more than 50 countries and regions. Among them, approximately 850 Chinese enterprises showcased their offerings, underscoring their strong competitive edge across photovoltaics, energy storage, system integration, and related fields.

At the show, Chinese exhibitors presented a wide array of high‑efficiency PV modules, energy‑storage systems, charging infrastructure, and end‑to‑end energy‑system solutions. Several international firms even prominently displayed collaborative branding with Chinese partners, reflecting deep cooperation between China and Europe in R&D and supply-chain integration.

“Chinese companies have made remarkable contributions to the European market,” noted Christoph Litsch, Senior Market Analyst at the European Solar Association. “China is not only the world’s largest market for PV applications but also drives Sino‑European industrial convergence by supplying high‑quality products, establishing manufacturing facilities in Europe, and engaging in joint R&D initiatives, creating win‑win outcomes for all parties involved.”

Intersolar Europe boasts a notably higher‑quality audience compared to other similar exhibitions, making it the global leader in terms of exhibition effectiveness, professional visitor demographics, and the completeness of its value chain. It remains the preferred choice for both exhibitors and attendees, with nearly all top‑ranked global players participating. Exhibition Review

The 33rd Intersolar Europe, the leading international trade fair for the solar industry, was successfully held from May 7 to 9, 2025, at the Munich International Exhibition Centre. This edition brought together over 2,700 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and regions, attracting approximately 107,000 industry professionals and further solidifying its position as a premier global event for the solar sector.

Chinese companies were a central highlight of the show, with around 850 Chinese exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technologies across key segments, including high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and integrated energy solutions. LONGi Green Energy unveiled next-generation modules that maintain exceptional conversion efficiency even under low-light conditions, earning a prestigious technology award; TCL presented a residential green-energy system integrating rooftop photovoltaics, inverters, and energy-storage units. CATL introduced a containerized, modular energy-storage unit capable of supporting the charging needs of roughly 150 electric vehicles, while industry leaders such as Huawei and Trina Solar also showcased their latest energy-storage innovations. During the event, Chinese firms secured nearly 16 GWh of energy-storage orders, with Desay Battery signing a strategic cooperation agreement with Germany’s DOS for a 4 GWh energy-storage power plant in the Middle East—the largest single contract announced at the fair. Similarly, Sige Energy inked a 1 GWh framework agreement with Nordic distributor Aprilice and reached a 200 MWh collaboration with a Bulgarian partner. Other prominent Chinese companies, including Jinko Storage, Shangneng Electric, Chunan New Energy, and Hive Energy, also garnered substantial order volumes.

On the technological front, N-type TOPCon, HJT, and BC products remained dominant, with manufacturers pushing the efficiency of TOPCon modules beyond 24%—and in some cases approaching 25%—through innovative approaches such as rectangular silicon wafers, zero-busbar (0BB) designs, edge passivation, and multi‑split cell architectures. Non‑standard module formats emerged as a focal point of discussion, addressing emerging applications like agrivoltaics, fence‑mounted PV systems, balcony‑integrated PV installations, and building‑integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). ASCA exhibited customizable, flexible, lightweight, colored, and semi‑transparent organic solar films, while IBC SOLAR launched its first façade‑mounting system, IBC WallFix, along with an upgraded AeroFix flat‑roof solution, complemented by glass‑glass solar modules manufactured in Germany. Meanwhile, the implementation of Germany’s “Photovoltaic Peak Law” and recent power outages in Spain sparked intensive industry-wide debates regarding European market demand and policy stability.
