Profile

The China Higher Education Expo—HEEC—originated as the National Exhibition of Higher Education Instruments and Equipment, first held in the autumn of 1992. In 2015, it was included among the exhibitions supported and guided by the Ministry of Commerce. In 2017, the Chinese Society for Higher Education was designated as one of the “first batch of key contact enterprises in the exhibition industry” by the Ministry of Commerce (as an exhibition organizer). In January 2018, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the event was officially upgraded to the China Higher Education Expo. Following this rebranding, the expo adopts a multifaceted format, combining exhibitions, conferences and forums, and competitive events, to showcase China’s achievements in higher education, support the nation’s drive to become a global leader in higher education, and establish a national hallmark for Chinese higher education. It isthe largest and most influential comprehensive brand expo in the field of higher education nationwide.

This edition of HEEC will be themed “Integration of Vocational and General Education, Industry–Education Collaboration, and Science–Education Convergence,” aiming to advance the coordinated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. The main program comprises two core components: “Exhibitions” and “High-Quality Academic Exchange Activities.”

The China Higher Education Expo—HEEC—features two major exhibition zones: the Advanced Equipment Zone and the Specialized Zones. The Advanced Equipment Zone is further divided into six thematic sections: laboratory and research instruments, information technology and smart education, practical training and mechatronics, medical education and health, campus logistics and safety, and sports facilities and equipment. Products on display span multiple fields, including artificial intelligence systems, autonomous driving technologies, AI chips, intelligent robots, smart laboratories, smart dormitories, and smart classrooms. The Specialized Zones include the University Zone, the Cross-Strait Integrated Development Achievements Zone, and the Talent Zone.

In addition, this year’s HEEC will host more than 40 high-quality academic exchange events across five categories, focusing on topics such as the digital transformation of higher education, university infrastructure development, teaching reform and faculty development, talent cultivation and holistic education, and universities’ contributions to local economic and social progress.

At the opening ceremony, Li Nan, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the Chinese Society for Higher Education, stated that this edition of HEEC fully implements the integrated strategy for education, science and technology, and talent development, with four key pillars and corresponding service commitments. First, centering on comprehensive reforms in the education sector to support high-quality development of higher education; second, focusing on university-driven scientific and technological innovation to foster self-reliance and strength in science and technology; third, emphasizing independent talent cultivation to bolster local efforts in building a high-caliber workforce; and fourth, promoting educational, academic, and cultural exchanges to facilitate cross-strait integration and shared development.

The China Higher Education Expo—HEEC—was renamed following the approval of the Ministry of Education, in order to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, fulfill the fundamental mission of fostering virtue and cultivating talent, support the substantive development of higher education, and contribute to building China into a global powerhouse in higher education. With a spirit of striving forward, it seeks to write a new chapter in the modernization of higher education in the new era.

China Higher Education Expo – CIEE tickets are e-tickets. Review

The 58th and 59th China Higher Education Expo were successfully held from April 8 to 10, 2023, at the Chongqing International Expo Center. With the theme “University–Local Integration and Industry–Education Integration: Toward High-Quality Development,” this edition of the expo adopted an integrated online–offline format, becoming a landmark event in the education sector that year.

Online attendance reached 16 million, while over 90,000 visitors attended in person. The exhibition spanned 120,000 square meters, attracting more than 1,500 participating institutions, including over 1,000 university leaders and 12 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Events and Impact: A total of 82 high-level conferences and forums were organized, and nearly 400 mainstream media outlets covered the event, underscoring its substantial industry influence.

For the first time, four specialized zones were established: a University Zone, an Employment Zone, a Competition Zone, and a City Zone, precisely targeting key areas of interest and enriching the overall expo ecosystem.

Deepening University–Local Collaboration: The expo signed strategic cooperation agreements with five Chongqing municipal departments—the Municipal Education Commission, the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission, the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Municipal Commerce Commission—and designated Fuzhou as the second batch of partner cities, thereby strongly advancing the deep integration of higher education with regional economic development.

Focusing on “Two Integrations”: Through a diverse array of forums and exhibitions, the expo thoroughly explored implementation pathways for both “University–Local Integration” and “Industry–Education Integration,” offering cutting-edge insights and practical solutions to support the high-quality development of higher education.

With record-breaking scale and innovative organizational formats, this edition of the China Higher Education Expo successfully created a grand platform connecting government, universities, enterprises, and cities.
