The 25th edition of the Metalloobrabotka International Machine Tool and Metalworking Exhibition was successfully held from May 26 to 29, 2025, at the Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow. Organized by EXPOCENTRE AO and supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this event is the most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking in the machine tool and metalworking sectors across Russia and Eastern Europe.

Continued Expansion in Exhibition Space and Exhibitor Numbers. This year’s show boasted a net exhibition area exceeding 41,000 square meters, attracting 1,249 exhibiting companies, including over 830 Russian enterprises—an increase of 5.4% compared to 2024. Companies from eight countries, including China, India, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, Belarus, and others, participated, with national pavilions established by China and Belarus. Chinese exhibitors accounted for 29% of the total, making it the largest international delegation. Regional pavilions were also organized by Russia’s Lipetsk, Ryazan, Samara, Tomsk, Tver, Vladimir, Yaroslavl regions, as well as Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Republic of Mari El. The event welcomed a record-breaking 45,690 professional visitors, underscoring the industry’s strong interest in the exhibition.

High-Level Government Support for the Event. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin attended the exhibition in person, touring key booths alongside Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov. He engaged in in-depth discussions with equipment R&D teams, emphasizing the urgent need to accelerate technological modernization within the sector. Minister Anton Alikhanov highlighted that the proportion of domestic Russian exhibitors had increased significantly in 2025, signaling a revitalization of the domestic machine tool manufacturing industry based on cutting-edge technologies. Representatives from the State Duma, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and regional governments also participated in the exhibition’s forum series, underscoring the government’s strong commitment to advancing the metalworking sector.

International and Leading‑Edge Presence Among Exhibitors. Global industry giants such as AMADA, DMG MORI, EMAG, MAZAK, SANDVIK, and TRUMPF were all present, while leading Russian companies—including STAN, Sasta, Klashnikov, LASERCUT, Promobot, and Rosatom (additive manufacturing)—showcased their latest innovations. LASERCUT, as Russia’s laser technology leader, unveiled eleven state-of-the-art machines. The Belarusian national pavilion featured enterprises like Krasny Borets Machine-Tool Plant, MZOR, Kuzlitmash, and BelTAPAZ. Many companies used the exhibition as a platform for world premieres, presenting new CNC machine tools, laser cleaning and marking systems, next-generation press brakes, and other advanced products. Some equipment was demonstrated live, including collaborative operations between milling centers and robots, automated feeding lines, and demonstrations of metal 3D printing processes—offering a vivid glimpse into the latest trends in digitalization and industrial automation.

A Rich Program of Concurrent Conferences and Events. The exhibition hosted a total of 41 conference sessions. On the opening day, a plenary session titled “National Projects as the Foundation for Sustainable Industrial Development” brought together representatives from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Duma, various regions, and educational institutions to discuss four priority areas: modernization and upgrading of mechanical manufacturing equipment; development of technical and engineering capabilities; localization of component production; and promotion of Russian products in both domestic and international markets. In addition, the event featured the International Conference on Industrial Investment and Development, the Russian Subcontracting and Engineering Exchange Exhibition, the Smart Manufacturing 4.0 Practice Conference, and specialized sessions on robotics and additive manufacturing. The International Conference on Industrial Investment and Development, organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, provided a regular professional forum for sharing best practices, fostering global industrial cooperation, and advancing cutting-edge technologies among Russian regions and EAEU and BRICS member states. Meanwhile, the Russian Subcontracting and Engineering Exchange Exhibition helped clients identify qualified suppliers and enabled suppliers to secure orders.

Strong Emphasis on Science and Education. The exhibition included dedicated zones showcasing Russia’s top universities, such as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National Research Technological University MISIS, Russian Technological University MIREA, and Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Bauman Moscow State Technical University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Glazov Digital Manufacturing Plant in the field of additive manufacturing, stipulating joint research, implementation of innovative 3D printing solutions, laboratory testing, and the development of high‑quality talent‑training programs.

Launch of an Innovative AI‑Based Business Matching Platform. For the first time at this year’s exhibition, WhoMatch—a digital business‑matching service powered by artificial intelligence—was introduced, enabling exhibitors and visitors to more quickly identify relevant partners.
