Review

The China International Information and Communication Exhibition 2025 was successfully held at the Beijing National Convention Center from September 24 to 26. With the theme “A New Engine for Digital-Physical Integration, Smart Momentum for the Future,” this year’s event was hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and represents the highest‑level annual gathering in the information and communication sector.

Covering nearly 40,000 square meters, the exhibition brought together nearly 300 leading companies across the industry chain, including domestic giants such as China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Broadcasting Network, China Tower, China Satcom, Huawei, ZTE, China Information and Communication Technology Group, Inspur, H3C, as well as international leaders like Ericsson, Nokia Bell, and Intel. During the event, Zeng Yu, First‑Level Inspector of the Information and Communications Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the main forum and delivered a speech, while Academician Wu Hequan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering presented a keynote address titled “Developing Data Elements to Advance Digital‑Physical Integration.” The exhibition also welcomed numerous government delegations and central enterprise groups, attracting close to 100,000 visitors.

This edition of the exhibition introduced, for the first time, the “BRICS Digital Economy and Trade Investment Forum”, guided by the Chinese Council of the BRICS Business Council and co‑hosted by General Technology Group and China Unicom. Centered on the theme “Digital Empowerment, Co‑Creating the Future,” the forum gathered representatives from BRICS countries accredited in China, heads of international organizations, industry think tank experts, and corporate executives, who engaged in in‑depth discussions on key issues such as digital technology innovation, data element circulation, and cross‑border trade collaboration. The establishment of this forum marks a strategic upgrade of the PT Exhibition—from a national industry event to an international high‑end dialogue platform.

“AI + Communications” emerged as the central theme of this year’s exhibition, showcasing vivid examples of the deep integration between 5G‑A and artificial intelligence. Huawei, with “5G‑A × AI” at its core, demonstrated integrated AI services tailored for residential, enterprise, and industrial scenarios. At CRRC Hunan, leveraging the enhanced uplink capabilities of 5G‑A, 34 industrial cameras continuously captured images of vehicle bodies and uploaded them in real time, enabling AI‑driven comprehensive automatic inspection of paint quality. This approach has reduced rework by dozens of instances per production line and saved millions of yuan in economic losses. Huang Luomeng, Vice President of Huawei’s China Region, stated, “5G‑A has built an ‘information superhighway’ connecting terminals, networks, and cloud‑based AI, accelerating the process of making AI accessible to all.”

China Telecom showcased its full‑stack domestically developed computing power, focusing on “AI + Industry.” It has launched over 80 industry‑specific large models and more than 30 intelligent agent applications, covering diverse vertical sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and education. In Shenzhen’s Low‑Altitude Economy Demonstration Zone, China Telecom achieved 95% 5G coverage at an altitude of 600 meters across 181 commercial flight routes. China Mobile has constructed a high‑precision differential navigation network based on “5G + BeiDou,” with over 4,400 ground‑based augmentation stations, providing highly accurate navigation information for low‑altitude operations and autonomous driving. Meanwhile, China Tower has upgraded 2.1 million communication towers into “digital towers,” equipping them with sensors, cameras, radars, and AI algorithms to build a three‑dimensional perception system spanning air, sky, land, and people; currently, 240,000 digital towers are supporting critical industries such as farmland protection, forest fire prevention, and earthquake early warning.

Cutting‑edge technological demonstrations were particularly noteworthy. The indicator lights of 384 hypernode servers shimmered like constellations, reflecting the pulsating synergy between computing power and networking; 6G holographic digital humans blurred the boundaries between virtual and reality; long‑endurance drones and near‑space airship prototypes descended from the “cloud,” outlining an integrated communication map spanning air, sky, land, and sea. Linzhou Technology made its debut at the exhibition, unveiling a near‑space airship model exceeding 100 meters in length. This airship is expected to provide mobile coverage within a 60‑kilometer radius and specialized terminal coverage within a 200‑kilometer radius, simultaneously delivering voice, image, and video communications to 20,000 users. Qikex Quantum and Xunsheng Quantum showcased quantum key distribution devices and quantum encryption communication terminals, demonstrating the application and practical implementation of quantum technologies in communication networks.

The concurrent “ICT China·2025 High‑Level Forum” adopted a “1+1+2+N” structure, comprising one opening forum, one main forum, two international forums, and multiple thematic forums focused on specific sub‑sectors. During the exhibition, several major reports were released, including the “Report on the Development Trends of Quantum Computing (2025),” the “Report on the Development of New Information Infrastructure,” and the “Report on the Status of Universal Telecommunication Services.” Additionally, the “ICT China (2025) Case Collection and Release Campaign” highlighted exemplary practices across the industry, while the third “New Green Cup” awards ceremony announced the winners of the national finals.

Academician Wu Hequan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out at the main forum that many enterprises face challenges in utilizing data—lack of capability, reluctance, or fear of misuse—and that issues such as unclear ownership and significant valuation errors need to be addressed in data‑element development. Furthermore, the cost of cloud adoption remains prohibitively high for small and medium‑sized enterprises. Wei Liang, Deputy Director of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, noted that China’s artificial intelligence industry exceeded RMB 900 billion in 2024 and emphasized the need for resonance among technology, applications, and ecosystem dimensions going forward.

Exhibiting companies generally reported high‑quality professional audiences and a marked increase in international participation. Attendees agreed that the PT Exhibition, with its more than thirty years of illustrious history, has evolved beyond being merely a showcase for cutting‑edge technologies such as 10‑gigabit optical networks and quantum computing—it has become a testament to the deep integration of digital technologies and the real economy, vividly illustrating the telecommunications industry’s transformation and breakthroughs in the age of artificial intelligence.
