Wang Ximeng, Secretary General of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), pointed out that the shift toward electric and intelligent transportation is already underway. Taiwan's e-bike export value has nearly caught up with that of traditional bicycles, confirming this transition. As a hub in the global supply chain, Taiwan's bicycle industry has the opportunity to leverage the strengths of western Taiwan's semiconductor, electronics, electrical, and plastics sectors to become a key contributor to smart electric mobility.

Wu Yingjin, Chairman of the Taiwan Bicycle Association, stated: "Taiwan's bicycle industry plays a pivotal role in the global supply chain, dedicated to product innovation, production efficiency, and quality enhancement. Taking the average export price in August this year as an example, traditional bicycles reached $1,000 per unit, while e-bikes hit $1,700—a 100-fold increase compared to 50 years ago. Although 2023 was a challenging year for the global bicycle industry, difficult times are also the best opportunity to refine products and technologies."

At a critical moment when global enterprises are actively pursuing net-zero transitions, Taiwan's bicycle industry is also committed to carbon reduction through improvements in design, materials, and manufacturing processes. In the production of bicycle parts and accessories, various products incorporating recycled plastics, ocean waste, bio-fibers, and carbon fiber are being introduced, showcasing the innovation and integration capabilities of Taiwanese enterprises.
