The Exhibition Value of the Shanghai International Thermal Insulation Materials Expo (TIM Expo)
- The largest and most influential flagship event in the Asia-Pacific thermal insulation industry: The Shanghai International Thermal Insulation Materials and Energy-Saving Technologies Expo (TIM Expo, Asia Insulation Expo) is organized by the China Association for Thermal Insulation and Energy Saving Materials, with co-organization from authoritative bodies such as the Specialized Committee on Thermal Insulation Engineering Applications of the Shanghai Energy Research Society and the Thermal Insulation, Fireproofing, and Anti-Corrosion Branch of the China Electric Power Construction Enterprises Association. Since its inception, the expo has been successfully held for more than twenty editions. The 21st edition in 2024 brought together over 600 high-quality domestic and international exhibitors, occupying an exhibition space of 35,000 square meters and attracting nearly 13,000 professional visitors from home and abroad, making it the annual benchmark for the entire thermal insulation materials value chain in the Asia-Pacific region.
- A one-stop platform covering the entire industry value chain: The expo encompasses all segments of the industry, including building insulation (inorganic and organic insulation materials, integrated insulation-decorative panels, wall and roof insulation systems), industrial insulation (cold‑chain and thermal insulation materials for petrochemicals, power generation, metallurgy, kilns, pipelines, LNG storage tanks, ships, etc.), anti-corrosion and fireproofing materials, as well as insulation equipment (production machinery, construction tools, spray‑application devices). From rock wool, glass wool, aerogels, and vacuum insulated panels to building‑integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) components, exhibitors can achieve end-to-end connections—from technology showcases and brand exposure to business negotiations—within a single venue.
- Precise matchmaking with global key buyers and channel resources: Over the years, the expo has welcomed industry experts and procurement professionals from 30 provinces and municipalities across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and 142 overseas countries, with cumulative attendance exceeding 200,000 professional visitors, including nearly 7% from abroad. During the three-day event, overseas buyers from dozens of countries and regions—including Mongolia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Germany, India, and various African nations—were invited to attend. Through sustained promotion on overseas platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, and in collaboration with Chinese ambassadors, commercial counselors, and international professional associations, the organizers provide exhibitors with targeted services to connect with international purchasing demands.
- Unique value for Chinese enterprises—serving as a strategic engine linking to the global thermal insulation market: Concurrent with the expo, numerous high‑level industry forums are held, including the “Shanghai International Low‑Carbon and Thermal Insulation Energy‑Saving Forum,” the “Shanghai International Aerogel Materials R&D and Innovation Forum,” and the “Asia Insulation Systems Technology Application Forum.” Renowned experts such as Han Jixian, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the China Association for Thermal Insulation and Energy Saving Materials, and Professor Shen Xiaodong of Nanjing University of Technology, deliver keynote speeches. In addition, the expo hosts international buyer‑matching events, continuously publishing procurement needs from Pakistan, Germany, Qatar, the United States, Nigeria, Thailand, Canada, South Africa, and other countries, thereby providing Chinese companies with direct access to overseas markets.
- A cutting‑edge hub for technological innovation and industry trends: At the expo, innovative technologies such as building‑integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) components, aerogel insulation materials, vacuum insulated panels, and intelligent temperature‑control systems for cold storage facilities have become focal points. At the 2025 edition, Sifang Technology Group, under its “Pengnuo” brand, showcased groundbreaking products including cold storage construction systems, photovoltaic roof panel assemblies enabling BIPV integration, and four‑sided tongue‑and‑groove panels—all certified at the national level for energy efficiency and internationally accredited by FM Global. These exhibits reflect a clear shift toward emerging industries such as new energy and smart manufacturing, leading the sector toward low‑carbon and intelligent transformation.
- Deep integration with high‑end forums and industry resources: More than 20 high‑level forums and technical seminars are held concurrently with the expo, addressing core topics such as the application of insulation materials and systems, low‑carbon and thermal insulation energy saving, R&D and applications of aerogel insulation materials, technologies for integrated insulation‑decorative panels, corrosion‑resistant insulation design for ships, and energy‑efficient renovation of existing buildings. Experts from authoritative institutions—including the China Association for Thermal Insulation and Energy Saving Materials, the China Academy of Building Standard Design, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Tongji University—deliver presentations, offering exhibitors strategic insights into policy developments, technical standards, and market trends.
- The locational and industrial advantages of Shanghai: Held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, the expo is situated in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta, home to China’s most advanced cluster of thermal insulation material manufacturers. Leveraging Shanghai’s strategic position as an international trade hub, TIM Expo provides exhibitors with a premier platform to connect with both the Asia-Pacific and global markets.
