Exhibition Review
The VIETBUILD Hanoi 2026 International Exhibition on Construction Materials and Home Products was successfully held from March 26 to 30 at the Vietnam National Convention Center (VEC) in Hanoi. Co-organized by the Information Center of the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and VIETBUILD International Exhibition Organization, this edition marked the first time the VEC venue was utilized for a VIETBUILD event, and it also served as the inaugural show of the seven‑event national series scheduled for 2026.
Exhibition Scale Sets New Records. With over 2,500 booths, both the exhibition area and the overall scale reached record highs in the history of the VIETBUILD series. Exhibitors hailed from nearly 20 countries, including Vietnam, Japan, India, China, France, Italy, the United States, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The showcased products spanned the entire industry chain, covering construction materials, transportation equipment, interior and exterior decoration, industrial machinery, lighting systems, real estate, and more.
China’s Pavilion Stands Out. More than 200 Chinese companies participated, making China the largest international contingent at the show. Chinese exhibitors presented cutting-edge technologies and innovative products in areas such as green building, smart construction, and energy‑efficient materials, drawing steady crowds to their booths. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quang Cong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Building Materials Association, emphasized, “China is the country with the greatest number of exhibits at this fair.” Leveraging their technological sophistication, energy‑saving performance, and strong brand reputations, Chinese building‑materials firms garnered significant attention from Vietnamese professional buyers.
High-Level Government Support. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address. He underscored that the exhibition coincided with the successful conclusion of the 14th National Assembly and the upcoming elections for deputies to the 15th National Assembly—momentous political milestones. The theme, “Construction–Building Materials–Real Estate–Green Transportation,” reflected the redefined role of the construction sector following its restructuring. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha commended the event for being hosted for the first time in the state-of-the-art VEC facility, highlighting Vietnam’s capabilities in design, construction, and technological mastery within the building industry.
Green Initiatives and Sustainable Development Take Center Stage. This year’s exhibition spotlighted green and sustainable solutions, including circular‑economy technologies, renewable and clean energy sources, and digital innovations. Many companies proactively conducted market research, introducing modern, high‑quality products tailored to housing and infrastructure development needs while adhering to stringent environmental standards, thereby enhancing quality of life. Exhibits encompassed new manufacturing techniques for building materials, eco‑friendly equipment, smart home systems, and energy‑efficient lighting—key pillars of the green transition.
Vietnam’s Building Materials Market Relies Heavily on Imports. During the exhibition, Dr. Nguyen Quang Cong noted that Vietnam primarily relies on domestic production, with minimal imports; however, certain high‑end and specialized building materials still require external sourcing. As Vietnam aims to achieve GDP growth exceeding 10% and faces robust demand for infrastructure development, the building‑materials sector must significantly ramp up output to meet these needs, creating substantial market opportunities for Chinese manufacturers.
A Rich Array of Concurrent Events. Throughout the exhibition, a series of events were organized, including a symposium on “The Impact of Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation on Vietnam’s Building Materials Industry,” B2B business‑matching forums, and online‑offline trade‑promotion exchanges. The organizing committee arranged numerous product demonstrations, technical consultations, and matchmaking sessions, providing an efficient platform for exhibitors and professional buyers. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha specifically urged the organizers to innovate operational approaches, transforming VIETBUILD into a “Technology and Solutions Marketplace” for enterprise connections and establishing an evaluation framework that tracks metrics such as the number of contracts signed, total transaction value, and the volume of business matches.
Bright Prospects for Vietnam’s Building Materials Market. Vietnam is currently experiencing a dual acceleration phase of infrastructure development and urbanization, with nearly 600 major projects underway nationwide, totaling over VND 5 trillion in investment. To date, approximately 3,200 kilometers of expressways have been completed, alongside multiple airport and port infrastructure initiatives. The building‑materials sector boasts annual growth rates of around 17–25%, while housing‑related investments reach roughly USD 32 billion per year. Over the next five to ten years, an additional USD 140 billion is slated for infrastructure development. Given the heavy reliance on imports, Vietnam’s building‑materials market presents vast opportunities for Chinese enterprises.
