The Xi’an Advanced Manufacturing & Digital Industry Exhibition – Xi’an National Defense Technology Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the Xi’an Military Expo) is centered on advancing the digital transformation of advanced manufacturing. It aims to thoroughly and accurately study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection tour in Shaanxi, deeply explore and seize the major opportunities facing Shaanxi’s advanced manufacturing, digital industry, and defense‑related technology sectors, and focus on key industrial chains such as aerospace, advanced manufacturing, high‑end equipment, defense informationization, smart terminals, and new materials.
As an important component of Shaanxi’s advanced manufacturing industrial cluster, the aviation industry cluster is thriving. Yanliang District, led by AVIC Xi’an Aircraft Industry Group Co., Ltd., brings together over a thousand enterprises. More than 30 large and medium‑sized military and civilian aircraft models have been developed here, with over 40 local companies participating in the research and development of aircraft such as the Y‑20, J‑20, Z‑20, H‑6K, C‑919, and the MA60 series. A number of core technologies that fill domestic gaps have achieved breakthroughs here, and China’s first regional jet—the MA60 series—equipped with independent intellectual property rights and entering the international market, has taken off from this very location. The Xi’an aviation industry cluster was selected as part of the first batch of national advanced manufacturing clusters; meanwhile, the drone industry is experiencing rapid growth, placing Shaanxi among the national leaders. Beyond aviation, our province’s commercial vehicles (heavy trucks), passenger cars (new energy), solar photovoltaic, and other advanced manufacturing sectors are also rapidly expanding and steadily developing, thanks to leading enterprises such as Shaanxi Automobile Group, BYD Xi’an, and LONGi Green Energy, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Shaanxi’s advanced manufacturing industrial cluster.
Shaanxi boasts robust national defense science and technology capabilities and distinct comprehensive advantages. Many defense‑related research institutes are “unicorns” at the national level, with their technical expertise ranking among the best in China. Numerous key defense enterprises integrate research and production, operating multiple technical process research institutes and product development centers, demonstrating strong R&D capacities within their respective fields and positioning themselves as research‑driven enterprises. From July 25 to 27, 2025, the Third China (Xi’an) Advanced Manufacturing and Digital Industry Expo, together with the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Expo, was successfully held at the Xi’an International Convention & Exhibition Center (Chanba). This edition of the expo was themed “Strengthening Innovation through Digital-Physical Integration and Solidifying the Foundations of Independent and Controllable Technologies,” covering an exhibition area of 32,000 square meters and attracting more than 900 enterprises and institutions from both domestic and international markets. Provinces and municipalities such as Guizhou and Jiangsu participated in organized group exhibitions, while numerous industry giants and specialized, niche, and innovative companies showcased tens of thousands of exhibits.
A Rich Array of Highlights and Concentrated Showcase of Key Technological Breakthroughs. In the field of digital manufacturing, Huawei Cloud unveiled its industrial digital twin platform for the first time, enabling end-to-end intelligent quality inspection management for aircraft components; Dazhong Laser exhibited a 100 kW ultra-high-power fiber laser cutting system, providing a domestically developed solution for processing aerospace titanium alloy parts. In the defense technology sector, the 719th Institute of China Shipbuilding Group presented 3D-printed pressure-resistant hull technology for deep-sea submersibles, achieving a 40% increase in structural strength; Luoyang Hongyuan Bearing introduced special bearings capable of operating in liquid oxygen environments at -196°C, overcoming critical bottlenecks in rocket engine bearing technology. In the low-altitude economy domain, AVIC Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation showcased the Huiying 60 large transport drone, while Shenyang Feiyu Special Robotics unveiled an underwater search-and-rescue robot designed for operations at depths of up to 5,000 meters.
A Robust Schedule of Concurrent Events and In-depth Industry Exchanges. During the expo, more than 20 thematic events were held, including the 9th World Unmanned Aircraft Systems Conference – Xi’an Summit, the Forum on the Development of Intelligent and Digital Applications in National Defense Science and Technology, military–civilian dual-use technology exchange and matchmaking sessions, and roadshows for advanced manufacturing technological achievements. The event also released a list of the top 50 exhibiting enterprises. Experts and scholars from across the country engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as “How to Stand Out in an Era of Intense Competition” and “Challenges and Breakthroughs in Advanced Manufacturing.” The expo drew over 50,000 professional visitors, presenting a technological feast that heralds a new era of leadership in advanced manufacturing and dual-use technologies.
