Palais des Festivals de Cannes
Cannes Film Festival Palace is the venue for the famous Cannes Film Festival, where the most prestigious Golden Palm Award is presented. The walkway in front of the palace is adorned with handprints of renowned stars and directors from around the world. The largest tourist service center in Cannes is located on the first floor of the Film Festival Palace. The first palace was built in 1949 to host the代表大会congress of the film festival founded in 1946. The original building was located on the Boulevard de la Croisette, where the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès Stephanie now stands. To accommodate this festival and the first business meetings such as MIPTV, since 1965, there has been a growing success in Cannes. In response, the city decided in 1979 to build a new palace. The new building, designed by architects Bennett and Druet, and two municipal casinos were constructed on site, opening in December 1982. It was expanded in 1999, with the creation of a new 10,000 square meter space at the Congress Hall. With a total exhibition area of 28,000 square meters, it can accommodate up to 30,000 people inside for the film festival and various activities. Apart from being the official venue for the film festival, it also houses a casino, nightclubs, and numerous meeting rooms.
