The Rio de Janeiro International Convention Center was established in 1977. It is the largest conference and exhibition center in Rio de Janeiro, equipped with modern facilities and comprehensive amenities. The Rio de Janeiro International Convention Center has been the venue for numerous sporting events: it hosted the 2012 G20 summit, and also served as the site for the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, accommodating six pavilions; Pavilion No. 2 was used for Olympic boxing; Pavilion No. 3 hosted table tennis for both the Olympics and Paralympics; the exhibition management handled badminton; Pavilion No. 6 was designated for Olympic and Paralympic weightlifting; during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, it functioned as the headquarters of FIFA. The Rio de Janeiro International Convention Center spans over 200,000 square meters, making it a prominent landmark in the city and a preferred venue for major events. The Rio Convention Center features four competition venues, all within a 5-minute drive from the Olympic Village and Paralympic Village.
