Accor Stadium
Accor Stadium
The Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia, is also known by its non-commercial name, the Australia Stadium. It is an 82,000-seat stadium located in Sydney Olympic Park, western Sydney, Australia. It was the centerpiece of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and is now primarily used as a rectangular sports and entertainment venue. During the Olympics, no other outdoor stadium used for the Games was larger than the Australia Stadium, which could accommodate up to 110,000 seats.
Designed specifically for Australia's unique environment, the stadium provides shade and protection for most of its audience. The roof hangs from a massive arched structure covering three hectares, made of translucent polycarbonate, minimizing shadows and direct sunlight in the playing area, creating ideal conditions for television broadcasts and spectators.
