展会简介

The Hong Kong Book Fair is Asia’s largest and most influential annual book event, held every summer since 1990. This year’s edition is themed “Food Culture: The Future of Living,” featuring more than 620 cultural activities. Highlights include the “World Culture and Arts Gallery” and the special exhibition “Table & Read: Culinary Delights,” which use food as a bridge to connect reading with the wider world; the inaugural Creative Industries Zone showcases intangible cultural heritage and exquisi

The Exhibition Value of the Hong Kong Book Fair

  • Hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Book Fair has been held continuously for more than thirty editions since its inception in 1990, making it one of the largest and most influential annual events in the global Chinese-language book industry. The fair brings together publishers from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and overseas markets, integrating book sales, copyright trading, and cultural exchange. It is widely recognized within the industry as a leading indicator of trends in Chinese-language publishing and a key gateway for international publishers seeking to enter the Chinese and broader Asian markets.
  • A One‑Stop Showcase Covering the Entire Industry ChainThe fair encompasses the full spectrum of the book industry, including print books—ranging from fiction, literature, children’s titles, comics, educational materials, social sciences, and practical guides—to e‑books, audiobooks, digital reading platforms, cultural and creative products, printing technologies, and copyright transactions. From traditional publishing to digital reading, and from book sales to cross‑border rights licensing, exhibitors can seamlessly connect with potential partners across all stages of the value chain, achieving comprehensive exposure and business opportunities.
  • Precise Access to Global Key Buyers and Industry ResourcesIn 2025, the fair will host over 770 exhibitors from nearly 40 countries and regions, attracting 890,000 visitors. Among them, 55% are primarily interested in purchasing new titles, 49% take advantage of promotional discounts, and 27% seek to experience the cultural ambiance of an international book fair. Average spending per visitor reaches HK$918, accounting for 57% of their annual book expenditures, underscoring the fair’s strong ability to drive consumer engagement. International attendees come from Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and other destinations, with some Japanese readers traveling specifically to acquire particular publications.
  • Unique Value for Publishing Enterprises: A Core Platform for New‑Book Launches and Market ValidationThe Hong Kong Book Fair serves as a strategic platform for publishers to gauge market response and promote new releases. For instance, “Creation Pavilion” leveraged the popularity of a film to attract numerous Japanese readers eager to purchase its special edition of “The Legend of the City of Kowloon.” Meanwhile, “Abnormal Research Institute,” participating for the first time, exceeded its sales target by 30% within the first three days, while “Jigu Zhai” used the fair to successfully rejuvenate its brand image. Surveys indicate that 55% of visitors prioritize buying new books, clearly demonstrating the fair’s pivotal role as a venue for launching and validating new titles.
  • A Strategic Hub for Mainland China’s “Going Global” Publishing Initiative. More than 40 mainland Chinese publishing houses formed an exhibition delegation, showcasing nearly 20,000 high-quality titles at the 2025 Book Fair. The mainland pavilion, themed around Sichuan Province, featured cultural treasures such as “Encountering Sanxingdui” and the “Shu Road Heritage Series,” which highlight Bashu culture. On-site performances of intangible cultural heritage—including Sichuan Opera face-changing, long-spouted teapot tea ceremonies, and Shu embroidery—drew large crowds. Key national publishing projects like “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China,” “The Library of Rejuvenation,” and “The Confucian Canon” were prominently displayed, effectively advancing the global outreach of Chinese culture.
  • In-Depth Connections Between High-Level Forums and Industry Resources. During the fair, over 620 cultural events were held, ranging from author lectures and new book launches to copyright negotiations and cross-cultural exchanges. Celebrations marking the centenary of Louis Cha’s birth and thematic symposiums on film and literature drew visitors from across the Greater China region and overseas. Prominent writers from various locales engaged directly with readers, helping to position Hong Kong as a pivotal hub for Sino‑foreign cultural and artistic exchange.
  • Hong Kong’s Geographical Location and Industrial Advantages. Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the fair capitalizes on Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an international free-trade port and a cultural crossroads where Eastern and Western influences converge. Over more than three decades, the Hong Kong Book Fair has evolved from a mere sales platform into a landmark venue for cultural exchange within the Chinese-speaking world. Leveraging Hong Kong’s “One Country, Two Systems” framework and the policy support outlined in the National 14th Five-Year Plan—aimed at establishing Hong Kong as a center for Sino‑foreign cultural and artistic interaction—the fair provides exhibitors with a strategic platform to connect with both global and domestic markets.
