FITUR (International Tourism Trade Fair) Profile
FITUR (International Tourism Trade Fair) is one of the largest and most influential professional tourism exhibitions in the world. It serves as a premier gathering for global tourism professionals and stands as the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound tourism markets in Europe and the Americas.
This further confirms its strong appeal as a vital hub platform for the global tourism industry. The exhibition attracted over 255,000 attendees, including 155,000 trade visitors. International trade visitors increased by 12% year-on-year, positively correlating with an 11% growth in international exhibitors.
This edition of FITUR received high-level attention. His Majesty King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended official events, alongside over 70 regional leaders, ministers, and vice-ministers of tourism from around the world, fully demonstrating FITUR's strategic role in international tourism governance, cooperation, and industry dialogue.
Meanwhile, with Mexico featured as the Partner Country, FITUR has once again consolidated its global leadership in scale, internationalization, and professional value, offering the industry more forward-looking product structures and partnership directions.
According to data from the Spanish National Tourism Board, Chinese tourist arrivals to Spain surged by 420%, with spending skyrocketing by 592%, positioning China as the leader in growth and consumption among the top three East Asian markets. The resumption of direct flights to Madrid from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hong Kong, and Hangzhou, along with direct flights to Barcelona from Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, coupled with increased flight frequencies, have all contributed to the rise in Chinese visitors to Spain.
FITUR serves as a strategic platform to capitalize on this booming trend, offering tourism service providers an excellent opportunity to connect with the growing influx of Chinese travelers. This reinforces Spain's tourism presence in the Chinese market and facilitates successful networking and cooperation between Spanish and Chinese tourism professionals.
