As the most representative international metropolis in Western China, Chengdu’s vast market reach and mature convention and exhibition infrastructure make it the premier hub for instrument showcasing, exchange, sales, and procurement in the region, with influence extending to Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, as well as Ningxia, Tibet, and Xinjiang.

With a population of 16 million, Chengdu is one of the five cities designated as a National Music Industry Base, boasting a strong grassroots music culture and a steady stream of musical talent. It has produced internationally renowned singers such as Liao Changyong, and in recent years has seen the emergence of well‑known young Chinese artists including Li Yuchun, Zhang Liangying, Tan Weiwei, Yu Kewei, Zhang Jie, and Zhao Lei. Sichuan Province, with its large population of 83 million, also exhibits immense market demand and potential for musical instruments. The Chengdu International Musical Instrument Exhibition (Musical Chengdu) aims to establish itself as a distinctive benchmark for the instrument industry, a cultural touchstone for music, and a platform for music dissemination, all with a distinct Chengdu character.

In alignment with the goals set forth at the 13th Chengdu Party Congress to build a “City of Music,” the Chengdu International Musical Instrument Exhibition actively contributes to Chengdu’s vision of becoming an international music capital and a national center for cultural and creative industries. It attracts resources from the instrument and performing arts sectors to converge in Chengdu, using the city as a regional hub to radiate throughout Western China and foster exchanges, procurement, and trade within the instrument industry.
