The China Higher Education Expo (HEEC), formerly known as the National Higher Education Instrument and Equipment Exhibition founded in autumn 1992, was included in the "Ministry of Commerce Guided and Supported Exhibitions" in 2015. In 2017, the China Association of Higher Education was selected as one of the "First Batch of Key Contact Enterprises in the Exhibition Industry" (exhibition organizing unit) by the Ministry of Commerce. In January 2018, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the exhibition was officially upgraded to the China Higher Education Expo. Following the renaming, the expo will integrate exhibitions, conferences, forums, and competitions to showcase China's higher education achievements, serve the development of a leading higher education nation, and build a national brand for higher education. It is the largest and most influential comprehensive brand expo in the national higher education sector.

This edition of HEEC will focus on the theme "Integration of Vocational and General Education, Industry-Education Integration, and Science-Education Integration," serving the coordinated development of education, science and technology, and talent. The main activities consist of two major sections: "Exhibitions" and "High-Quality Academic Exchange Activities."

The HEEC exhibition comprises two parts: the High-Tech Equipment Zone and the Featured Zones. The High-Tech Equipment Zone features six exhibition areas: Laboratory & Scientific Research Instruments, Information Technology & Smart Education, Practical Training & Electromechanical, Medical Education & Health, Logistics & Safe Campus, and Sports Facilities & Equipment. Exhibited products cover AI systems, autonomous driving, AI chips, smart robots, smart laboratories, smart dormitories, smart classrooms, and more. The Featured Zones include three areas: University Zone, Cross-Strait Integration Development Achievements Zone, and Talent Zone.

This HEEC will also host over 40 high-quality academic exchange activities across five categories, focusing on the high-quality development of higher education. These include series of academic events on digital development in higher education, university construction and development, teaching reform and faculty development, talent cultivation and education, and universities serving local economic and social development.

Li Nan, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the China Association of Higher Education, introduced at the conference that this HEEC implements the integrated deployment of education, science and technology, and talent. Its main features and highlights are embodied in the "Four Focuses and Four Services": First, focusing on comprehensive reform in the education sector to serve the high-quality development of higher education; second, focusing on university scientific and technological innovation to serve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance; third, focusing on independent talent cultivation to serve the construction of high-level local talent teams; fourth, focusing on educational, academic, and cultural exchanges to serve cross-strait integration and shared development.

The China Higher Education Expo (HEEC) was established to fully implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, serve the connotative development of higher education, and support the building of a leading higher education nation. Writing a new chapter in the modernization of higher education in the new era with a pioneering spirit, the National Higher Education Instrument and Equipment Exhibition, hosted by the China Association of Higher Education, was officially renamed the China Higher Education Expo (abbreviated as "HEEC") with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
