Cosmoprof Asia Profile
Cosmoprof Asia is the largest and most influential beauty and cosmetics exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of the globally renowned Cosmoprof exhibition series, it is the premier global beauty trade show with a long history and outstanding reputation. Hong Kong serves as the hub of Asia's beauty trade, and Cosmoprof Asia acts as a vital gateway to the Asia-Pacific market.
As one of the most important international beauty exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region, and one of the few platforms that effectively connects the Chinese and broader Asia-Pacific markets with the global beauty industry, this event undoubtedly offers rich insights into market trends and valuable industry intelligence.
Cosmoprof Asia continues its "one venue, two shows" format, comprising the Cosmoprof Asia Supply Chain Exhibition (targeting upstream and downstream enterprises such as packaging suppliers, OEM/ODM manufacturers, and raw material suppliers) and the Cosmoprof Asia Beauty Exhibition (focused on cosmetics and personal care brands). According to official data, 437 Chinese exhibitors participated in the Supply Chain Exhibition this year.
In terms of exhibitors, the Supply Chain Exhibition primarily features domestic OEM/ODM manufacturers and packaging suppliers with existing overseas operations or a focus on export markets, as well as upstream and downstream enterprises from Japan and South Korea seeking Chinese clients.
Regarding products, breakthroughs in color cosmetics mainly focus on packaging design, 3D printing technology, skincare-infused makeup, and formula innovation, all of which emerged as key highlights. Skincare products show a clear trend towards gentle efficacy and clean beauty. Notably, products integrating traditional culture and featuring traditional Chinese plant extracts as core ingredients have gained significant popularity overseas.
In the packaging sector, numerous renowned domestic and international packaging suppliers emphasized that sustainability has become one of the most critical trends in cosmetic packaging development, though approaches and attitudes towards eco-friendly initiatives vary between domestic and international markets. Additionally, refillable packaging, biodegradable materials, and eco-friendly non-toxic materials have become key formats driving the industry's green transition. At the exhibition, Japanese and South Korean brands maintained strong enthusiasm, occupying prime locations in the pavilion with a significant number of participating brands. Official data shows that this year, the Japanese and South Korean pavilions brought 20 and 253 selected exhibitors respectively, showcasing their latest hit products and setting regional beauty trends.
Beyond Japanese and South Korean exhibitors, companies from the United States and France also accounted for a substantial presence. According to official figures, Business France brought over 80 French cosmetics companies to the French National Pavilion. Notable brands on display included French perfume house L.T. PIVER, professional-grade skincare brand MEDICEUTIC, and dermocosmetic brand Laino.
As an international exhibition connecting domestic and global beauty enterprises, Cosmoprof Asia serves, to some extent, as a "barometer" for China's beauty import and export industry. Amid economic downturns and increasing uncertainties, the enthusiastic participation of exhibitors from various countries indirectly confirms that the Chinese and broader Asia-Pacific beauty markets remain among the most dynamic globally.
The exhibition revealed that many overseas brands are participating for the first time, having never previously entered the Chinese market, and are now actively planning their market entry. Several brands explicitly stated their goal to find agents or distributors for the Chinese or other markets through this event.
Overall, the Chinese cosmetics market remains an indispensable arena for overseas brands. Meanwhile, with consumption upgrades and the rise of domestic brands, competition and challenges for international players have intensified, making innovation and differentiation more crucial than ever.
