MWC Africa Profile
MWC Africa is the most influential telecommunications exhibition in Africa. GSMA hosts the MWC series and the Mobile 360 regional conferences annually in Spain, China, the United States, and other countries and regions.
Since launching the Mobile 360 regional conference in Africa in 2014, the GSMA has successfully doubled the event's scale. Responding to industry calls and leveraging its influence, the GSMA established MWC Africa, a world-leading tech summit, on this rapidly developing continent. Starting in 2022, MWC Africa has actively supported the transformative ambitions of Africa's mobile tech sector by forging new partnerships with local public and private entities to drive innovative solutions.
MWC Africa not only covers emerging themes in the mobile technology sector but also aims to expand its leadership forums (including the African Ministerial Programme) to create a comprehensive industry-wide event. MWC Africa focuses on five key areas: 5G, digital finance, healthy internet development, startup launch platforms, and building a digital Africa.
MWC Africa attracts nearly 1,000 renowned enterprises from 75 countries and regions, with over 40% of attendees being corporate executives and decision-makers. More than 200 global industry experts delivered over 60 hours of presentations across the five key focus areas. Participating international giants include Airtel, MasterCard, Meta, MTN, Orange, Qualcomm, Vodacom, Narwal, and ZTE.
Today, Rwanda boasts a recovering economy, clean urban environments, hospitable people, an extensive road network, and excellent public security, making it the safest country in Africa and the fifth safest globally. In 2019, Rwanda ranked second worldwide in economic growth and was rated the second-best country in Africa for conducting business. With a 4G coverage rate of up to 95%, Rwanda ranks first in East Africa and fifth continent-wide in IT sector development. It is widely regarded as the preferred destination for innovative companies and startups to develop, test, and launch new products.
