Osaka International Fisheries and Aquaculture Exhibition, JapanProfile
The Japan Seafood Expo in Osaka is Japan’s most influential and highly acclaimed seafood exhibition. Since its inaugural edition in 1998, it has consistently covered all segments of the Japanese seafood industry, including production, processing, and distribution.
The Japan Seafood Expo aims to provide a platform for professionals in the seafood and fisheries sectors to exchange ideas and showcase cutting-edge products and technologies. The event brings together suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and industry experts from around the globe, offering exhibitors and visitors valuable insights into the latest market trends and technological innovations.
During the exhibition, a series of specialized forums and seminars will be held, featuring renowned domestic and international scholars and practitioners who will delve into critical topics such as sustainable development, technological advancement, and market expansion in the fisheries sector, thereby providing intellectual support for the industry’s long-term growth. In addition, on-site culinary demonstrations and tasting sessions allow attendees to experience and savor a wide array of seafood and aquatic products, enhancing engagement and experiential value.
In recent years, driven by changing fishing ground conditions, an aging workforce, and labor shortages, the seafood industry has been accelerating its modernization toward greater efficiency and reduced reliance on manual labor. The Japan Seafood Expo supports this transformation by introducing fishermen, aquaculturists, and on-site operators to the latest technologies and innovative solutions—such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and robotics—thereby fostering both modernization and sustainability within the sector.
Japan is one of the world’s largest consumers of seafood, importing substantial quantities annually, and it remains China’s top export market for aquatic products. The primary imported items include shrimp, tuna, salmon, trout, crab, processed eel, cod, cod roe, and processed shrimp, collectively accounting for more than half of Japan’s total seafood imports. For companies seeking to enter the Japanese market and establish enduring business relationships with local partners, participation in the Japan Seafood Expo in Osaka is an indispensable choice.
