As a key component of the Metal World Expo, the Shanghai International Metallurgical Industry Exhibition (MTM) was founded in 1986. It is the earliest and longest-running professional exhibition for iron and steel metallurgy in China. With strong support from numerous organizations, including the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), The Chinese Society for Metals (CSM), All-China Metallurgical Chamber of Commerce, China Special Steel Enterprise Association, China Construction Metal Structure Association, and China Refractories Industry Association, it has jointly established one of the most influential exhibitions for the domestic steel industry chain alongside concurrently held events such as the Refractories Exhibition, Precision Heat Treatment Exhibition, Steel Pipe Exhibition, Metal Wire & Rod Exhibition, and Casting & Forging Exhibition.
