Profile

The China (Shanghai) International Agrochemical and Plant Protection Exhibition (CAC) is the world’s largest agrochemical exhibition. Since its inception in 1999, it has been accredited by UFI since 2012. This event serves as a vital platform for new-product launches, technological exchanges, and business negotiations within the global agrochemical industry. It is a highly specialized, high‑turnover trade fair, acting as a gateway for Chinese agrochemical companies to expand internationally and as an annual gathering for professionals across the sector.

March marks the peak season for demand in agrochemical products. As one of the world’s leading agrochemical exhibitions, exhibitors often use this period—both before and after the show—as a key window for price adjustments, underscoring the CAC’s significant influence. It has established a comprehensive trade‑exchange platform encompassing pesticides, fertilizers, seeds, non‑agricultural chemicals, production and packaging equipment, plant protection machinery, logistics, consulting services, laboratories, and ancillary support.

The China (Shanghai) International Agrochemical and Plant Protection Exhibition (CAC)last edition spanned 80,000 square meters, hosting 1,475 exhibiting companies from Russia, Taiwan, the United States, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Germany, Australia, and other regions, with attendance reaching 45,000 visitors. During the event, overseas delegation briefings, dedicated pavilions for international exhibitors, and showcases of new fertilizer products and cutting‑edge technologies further fueled soaring popularity.

The China (Shanghai) International Agrochemical and Plant Protection Exhibition (CAC)also featured numerous high‑profile forums, including the International Forum on the Development of China’s Pesticide Industry, the World Symposium on Pesticide Science and Application (Fuhua Exchange), the China International Symposium on Non‑Agricultural Pesticides, the China International Forum on Biological Control Technology, and the Fertilizer Development and Trade Forum—totaling more than ten international market reports and academic symposiums. With a distinguished lineup of speakers and leading industry figures, these events have become annual venues for intellectual exchange. The conference invited numerous global experts and corporate leaders to assess the state of the agrochemical sector and strategize for enterprise growth. In 2027,the exhibition will cover four major domains—Crop Protection, FSHOW (fertilizers), CACE (agricultural equipment and plant protection devices), and AgTech (agricultural technology)—providing a concentrated showcase of pesticides and their intermediates, biopesticides and biological control technologies, basic and novel fertilizers, biostimulants, soil conditioners, agricultural efficiency enhancers and formulation techniques, catalysts, agrochemical production equipment, environmentally friendly facilities and technologies, packaging machinery, packaging materials, plant protection devices, seeds, irrigation systems, greenhouses, smart agriculture solutions, agricultural machinery, strategies for agrochemical product registration and related testing services, market intelligence, industrial development strategy consulting, and logistics services. Through these offerings, the exhibition aims to build a “global marketplace—buying and selling worldwide”—a fully integrated, dual‑circulation ecosystem for agricultural inputs both domestically and internationally.

China (Shanghai) International Agrochemical Exhibition CAC tickets are e-tickets. Mainland China visitors must complete online pre-registration with real-name ID verification; overseas visitors must use passport verification; Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan visitors must use their travel permit. On site, verify entry with your ID card or by scanning the e-ticket QR code.

Review

The 25th China International Agricultural Chemicals and Crop Protection Exhibition (CAC2025) was successfully held from March 17 to 19, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. This edition set a new record in scale, with an exhibition area of 160,000 square meters, attracting 2,236 exhibiting companies from 34 countries and regions, and drawing over 100,000 industry professionals. Overseas visitors came from 133 countries and regions, reflecting a significant increase in international participation.

The show featured four thematic sections—crop protection, fertilizers, agrochemical equipment and crop protection machinery, and agricultural technology—providing comprehensive coverage of the entire input supply chain for the planting industry. The crop protection section drew more than a thousand domestic and international exhibitors, with leading pesticide manufacturers and producers all present, alongside active participation from companies specializing in biopesticides and biological control technologies. The fertilizer section brought together upstream and downstream resources, showcasing everything from conventional bulk fertilizers to specialized and high-end formulations, and featuring both domestic market leaders and global giants, highlighting the latest trends in the global fertilizer industry. The agrochemical equipment and crop protection machinery section exhibited cutting-edge production machinery, end-to-end packaging solutions, and intelligent automation systems. Meanwhile, the agricultural technology section focused on seeds, irrigation, greenhouses, and smart agriculture.

Overseas participation reached an all-time high, with more than 200 overseas enterprises from 34 countries and regions—including the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Russia, France, South Korea, the United States, India, Japan, Brazil, and others—displaying their products in the dedicated international pavilion. Countries such as South Korea and Turkey participated through official trade delegations, while India, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, Russia, Argentina, and others organized visiting delegations to engage in business discussions.

For the first time, this year’s event included a Technology Transfer Zone, bringing together 11 research institutions—including the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Northwest A&F University—to showcase 38 cutting-edge research achievements related to green pesticide synthesis, biopesticide development, and intelligent pest and disease monitoring, thereby establishing a new platform for industry–university–research collaboration.

Concurrent with the exhibition, CAC Conference Week gathered over 100 global experts across the three major fields of crop protection, fertilizers, and agricultural technology. The Crop Protection Forum delved into topics such as the current state of the global pesticide industry, emerging regional market opportunities, and advances in biopesticide technologies; the Fertilizer Forum focused on the global supply-and-demand dynamics of the fertilizer market, new types of fertilizers, and innovative biostimulant technologies; while the Agricultural Technology Forum addressed issues like the internationalization of the seed industry and the development of smart agricultural equipment. On the eve of the opening, a symposium on pesticide import and export was also held, bringing together representatives from the Pesticide Inspection Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, relevant customs authorities, and 18 participating companies to discuss recent developments and challenges in pesticide exports.

In line with its commitment to green and low-carbon practices, the exhibition no longer provided paper-based catalogs, instead launching the CAC WeChat mini-program and an electronic catalog, and upgrading booth navigation features to leverage digital tools in support of sustainable, high-quality event management. As the annual flagship event of the global agrochemical industry, CAC2025 further strengthened its role as a bridge connecting the world, serving the industry, and empowering businesses, injecting fresh momentum into the high-quality development of the agrochemical sector and agricultural technological innovation.
