Review

From April 16 to 18, 2025, the 10th China International New Energy Industry Expo (CLNB 2025) was successfully held at the Suzhou International Expo Center. With the theme “Adapting Amidst Change, Unleashing Potential Through Innovation,” this edition of the expo was organized by Shanghai Metals Market Information Technology Co., Ltd. (SMM). Coinciding with the milestone of CLNB’s tenth anniversary, it has become a premier annual event for the global new energy sector.

In terms of scale, the exhibition covered nearly 30,000 square meters, featuring six major thematic zones—battery and PACK technologies, battery raw materials, battery recycling and regeneration, and energy storage systems—bringing together over 1,300 exhibitors from around the world. The event attracted more than 30,000 professional visitors, including over 500 overseas buyer delegations, and hosted more than 200 international business matchmaking sessions. Exhibitors spanned the entire industry value chain, including power batteries, energy storage systems, new energy materials, lithium‑ion battery recycling, and mineral resources.

This year’s expo showcased numerous highlights, with next‑generation battery technologies such as solid‑state batteries and sodium‑ion batteries emerging as central attractions. Ganfeng Lithium, the only company in the industry to integrate both lithium‑ion and solid‑state battery production chains, presented a comprehensive product portfolio—from oxide‑ and sulfide‑based solid electrolyte materials to metal‑lithium anode solid‑state batteries. Its high‑energy‑density battery packs achieve an energy density of 300–450 Wh/kg and have already been applied in the low‑altitude economy, passing prototype validation. Shuanghuan Technology unveiled China’s first production line for battery‑grade sodium carbonate starting from baking soda, enabling mass production of high‑purity (>99.5%) battery‑grade sodium carbonate and successfully establishing a three‑tier development framework spanning “basic chemical raw materials–electronic chemicals–new energy materials.”

Energy storage systems and lithium‑ion battery recycling technologies also drew significant attention. Ganfeng Lithium’s newly upgraded commercial and industrial energy storage series features highly safe LFP energy storage cells, while its integrated solar‑storage units adopt an all‑in‑one design incorporating an intelligent BMS system with a four‑layer protection matrix. Ganfeng has achieved a lithium recovery rate exceeding 90% and a nickel‑cobalt recovery rate surpassing 95%, thus forming a sustainable closed-loop system. Mianyang Liuneng, a leading provider of comprehensive powder‑processing equipment, showcased its core products and has successfully executed hundreds of EPC projects involving various battery materials—including lithium iron phosphate, ternary materials, silicon‑carbon anodes, and sodium‑ion cathode/anode materials—as well as cutting‑edge applications, earning the trust of renowned companies such as CATL, BYD, and EVE Energy.

A rich array of concurrent events created a high‑level platform for industry dialogue. Alongside the main exhibition, the event hosted an Academician and Leading Entrepreneur Forum, a dedicated session on the new energy industry, and 15 specialized sub‑forums covering key topics such as battery raw materials, battery materials, cutting‑edge solid‑state battery technologies, lithium‑ion battery recycling, the hydrogen energy sector, solar‑plus‑storage solutions, international mining investment, overseas markets, the low‑altitude economy, and Suzhou’s virtual power plant ecosystem. Kang Yi, former president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and Fan Xin, Chairman of SMM, delivered opening remarks. SMM CEO Lu Jialong predicted that from 2019 to 2027, China’s new energy vehicle sales would grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 44%, potentially reaching around 22 million units by 2027.

The professional visitor base was exceptionally strong, with an unprecedented level of international participation. Over 500 overseas buyer delegations from across the globe attended, representing sectors such as energy storage, electric power, battery supply chains, and new energy vehicles. The expo introduced a dedicated one‑on‑one procurement matchmaking program, which collected pre‑exhibition purchasing requirements and facilitated precise on‑site matches, enabling exhibitors to engage in in-depth discussions with decision‑makers. Exhibiting companies widely reported the high quality of professional visitors, their clear purchasing objectives, and the remarkable effectiveness of on‑site business connections.

The 11th China International New Energy Industry Expo (CLNB 2026) is scheduled to take place from April 8 to 10, 2026, at the Suzhou International Expo Center. For the first time, it will be co‑hosted with the AICE Aluminum Industry Conference and the CCIE Copper Industry Conference, creating a closed-loop, full‑chain ecosystem integrating “new energy + aluminum + copper” and further strengthening its role as an efficient platform for global exchange and collaboration within the new energy sector.
