According to data cited by Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, approximately 75% of Hong Kong’s financial institutions have already adopted or piloted generative AI. “We anticipate that this figure will rise to over 87% within the next three to five years,” said Mr. Hui. “AI applications will deliver more efficient, convenient services, enhancing user experience.”

Currently, AI is rapidly being implemented across core business areas—including wealth management, risk control, and intelligent marketing—continuously boosting operational efficiency. As a leading global financial center, Hong Kong has been actively promoting the integration of AI and other advanced technologies into the financial sector.

Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, stated that the “Fintech 2030” initiative aims to transform Hong Kong into a robust, resilient, and forward-looking international fintech hub, reshaping the future of finance, opening new chapters, and fostering a more sustainable and inclusive fintech ecosystem.

In terms of concrete business expansion, Tencent Cloud has made substantial progress. Hu Liming revealed, “For instance, in Southeast Asia, financial institutions such as Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, and Allo Bank are utilizing our cloud products, including TDSQL database, cloud infrastructure, and eKYC solutions.” At present, Tencent Cloud maintains double-digit annual growth in overseas markets, securing significant customer wins across Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond.
