Exhibition Review
The 2025 SAMPE China Annual Conference and the Exhibition on Advanced Composite Materials, Raw Materials, Tooling, and Engineering Applications was successfully held from June 18 to 20 at the China International Exhibition Center (Chaoyang Hall) in Beijing. Co-hosted by SAMPE China, AVIC Composites Co., Ltd., and the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, the event was themed “Advanced Composites: Leading Industrial Innovation and Development,” making it the most significant annual gathering for technical exchange and business matchmaking in China’s advanced composites sector.
With an exhibition area of 30,000 square meters, the show brought together more than 400 exhibiting companies. The exhibitor lineup included international industry leaders such as Toray, Hexcel, Solvay, and SGL Carbon, alongside domestic market leaders including Guangwei Composites, Zhongfu Shenying, Hengshen Shares, AVIC Composites, and China National Materials Group Technology. Overseas exhibitors and buyers from over 30 countries and regions attended, and the three-day event welcomed more than 20,000 professional visitors.
The aerospace composites zone emerged as the highlight of this year’s exhibition. AVIC Composites showcased its independently developed aviation-grade carbon fiber prepregs, which have already been applied to China’s domestically produced large aircraft, the C919 and CR929. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) North Research Center presented a full-scale validation specimen of a “composite wing” utilizing domestically produced T800-grade carbon fiber and a bismaleimide resin system. Meanwhile, the Institute of Aerospace Materials and Processes unveiled high-temperature ceramic matrix composites capable of withstanding temperatures exceeding 2,000°C.
The carbon fiber and raw/auxiliary materials zone also drew considerable attention.Guangwei Composites exhibited its “GQ Series” high-performance carbon fibers, achieving tensile strength and modulus levels that meet international cutting-edge standards. Zhongfu Shenying displayed its “SYT Series,” spanning grades from T300 to T1000. Hengshen Shares introduced its “HF Series” carbon fibers and fabrics. Jilin Chemical Fiber showcased low-cost, large-tow carbon fibers tailored for wind turbine blades and industrial applications.
The wind energy and industrial composites zone garnered significant interest. China National Materials Group Technology presented hybrid carbon/glass fiber composites designed for large wind turbine blades. Shidai New Material demonstrated composite material solutions for wind turbine blades. Zhongfu Lianzhong unveiled offshore wind turbine blade composite technologies boasting exceptional corrosion resistance and fatigue performance.
The SAMPE China International Academic Conference gathered world-class expertise.Academician Du Shanyi of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Li Dongsheng, Chief Composite Materials Engineer at COMAC, the Global President of SAMPE, and other leading domestic and international experts delivered keynote speeches. Discussions centered on topics such as the localization of carbon fiber production, aerospace applications, innovations in thermoplastic composite processing, and composite material recycling. The conference received over 500 academic papers, featured more than 20 parallel sessions, and attracted over 1,500 participants.
The domestic substitution matchmaking session yielded substantial results.Key users—including AVIC, COMAC, CNSA, AECC, and CRRC—engaged in one-on-one meetings with exhibiting companies, covering areas such as carbon fiber, prepregs, honeycomb core materials, and composite components. Over 30 collaborative agreements for domestic material substitution were reached on-site. The Chief Composite Materials Engineer at COMAC stated that they would continue to expand the use of domestically produced materials in the C919 and CR929 programs.
Exhibitors and industry stakeholders responded enthusiastically. The Chairman of Guangwei Composites remarked that both the quality of professional visitors and the atmosphere of technical exchange at this year’s event had reached new heights. The General Manager of Zhongfu Shenying noted that the SAMPE China Annual Conference has become a benchmark for China’s composites industry. Attendees agreed that, as China’s manufacturing sector accelerates its transition toward high-end, lightweight solutions, the demand for advanced composites—as strategic foundational materials—will continue to grow.
