The Exhibition Value of the Shanghai Fisheries Expo

  • A Global Flagship Platform for Aquatic Trade: With two decades of deep industry engagement, it has evolved into one of China’s most influential specialized fisheries events and serves as a vital gateway for Chinese fisheries to connect with global markets. The 2025 edition will span 120,000 square meters, bringing together over 3,000 brand exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, attracting 110,889 professional visitors, and fostering a globalized trade ecosystem covering capture, aquaculture, processing, and distribution.
  • One-Stop Coverage Across the Entire Industry Chain: The exhibit lineup comprehensively covers all segments—primary capture, advanced processing, ready-to-cook products, and more—featuring everything from Norwegian salmon and Ecuadorian white shrimp to leading domestic seafood enterprises. With tens of thousands of exhibits, it creates an end-to-end industrial ecosystem that spans “from sea to table.” The show also features dedicated zones for seafood processing and cold-chain equipment, ranging from automated freshness‑preserving systems to smart cold‑chain solutions, thus forming a complete “freshness value chain.”
  • A Hub for International Resource Networking: The 19th edition will host overseas exhibitors from 68 countries and regions, including Norway, Ecuador, Russia, India, Vietnam, Chile, and others. Official agencies such as the Norwegian Seafood Council and the Indian Marine Products Export Development Authority are organizing corporate participation, providing businesses with efficient pathways to access first‑hand global supply sources and expand into international markets.
  • A Platform Empowering Iconic Regional Brands: The expo has established a special zone for regional public brands under aquatic geographical indications, showcasing locally distinctive, high‑quality seafood products and highlighting regional industrial development achievements. Brands such as Zhoushan Beltfish, Dalian Sea Cucumber, and Rushan Oyster have been recognized among the top 100 regional public brands, leveraging the event to drive supply‑chain integration and international collaboration.
  • In‑Depth Empowerment Through High‑Level Forums: Nearly 30 specialized events will be held concurrently, addressing hot topics such as the Salmon Industry Development Summit, the South American White Shrimp Trade Forum, and the Global Frozen Food Supply Chain Ecosystem Empowerment Conference. Top experts, industry leaders, and representatives from research institutions will gather to engage in in‑depth discussions on key issues including industrial policy, market trends, and technological innovation.
  • Precise Supply‑Demand Matching for Maximum Efficiency: Relying on a sophisticated visitor‑invitation system, the expo ensures both the quality and quantity of professional buyers attending. Exhibiting companies can connect with high‑caliber buyers worldwide, including distributors, agents, importers, major retail chains, and hotel and catering service providers. During the Zhoushan delegation’s participation, preliminary trade commitments exceeded RMB 36 million, with seven prospective collaborative projects secured on site.
  • A Strategic Window for Emerging Market Segments: The 20th edition will introduce, for the first time, an “E‑Commerce Gift Zone,” focusing on creative seafood gift items, channel‑driving bestsellers, pre‑sale gift offerings, and packaging design, thereby opening up a second growth trajectory for businesses. From corporate welfare programs to e‑commerce festival promotions, and from live‑streamed sales to community group buying, these diversified channels are generating incremental opportunities far beyond traditional foodservice markets.
  • A Platform Endorsed by Industry Authorities: At the opening ceremony, the China Fisheries Association and National Geographic China signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to jointly develop authoritative standards for geographically‑indicated aquatic products, laying the groundwork for the industry’s high‑end transformation. Award ceremonies such as the Langchao·Xianfeng Gala’s “Annual Best‑Selling New Product Award” and “Best Packaging Innovation Award” further enhance the visibility and credibility of winning products on the global stage.

Exhibition Review

The 19th Shanghai International Fisheries Expo was successfully held from August 27 to 29, 2025, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. With an expansive exhibition space of 120,000 square meters, the event brought together over 3,000 brand-name exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, showcasing tens of thousands of aquatic (marine) products. The expo attracted a total of 110,889 professional visitors, including international attendees from 68 countries and regions, marking another record in its level of internationalization.

A Strong International Presence—748 overseas enterprises from 28 countries and regions, including Norway, Ecuador, Russia, India, Vietnam, and Chile, made impressive appearances. The Norwegian Seafood Council showcased premium deep-sea delicacies such as fresh-frozen salmon and Arctic cod; Ecuador’s “national team” highlighted its white shrimp as a flagship product, demonstrating robust production capacity; and the Indian Ocean Products Export Development Authority organized 15 companies to exhibit signature marine specialties like black tiger shrimp and tuna.

Leading Domestic Enterprises Take the Stage—well-known brands such as Shanghai Hecheng, Guangdong Hongbao, Zhejiang Xingye, Dalian Rongchang, Hai Tian Xia, Heyu Food, and Shanghai Xin Yuguang all participated. Processed ready‑to‑eat dishes emerged as a standout highlight, with Shanghai Hecheng’s Japanese‑style salmon fillets, Zhejiang Xingye’s delectable squid sticks, and Feiaode’s soy‑marinated crab drawing significant attention. Among them, Zhejiang Xingye Group’s “Delicious Squid Sticks” stood out from hundreds of entries, earning the “2025 Aquatic Product Best‑Selling New Product Award.”

Local Specialty Aquatic Clusters Shine Brightly—brands such as Zhoushan Beltfish, Dalian Sea Cucumbers, and Rushan Oysters were named among the “Top 100 Regional Public Brands for China’s Geographical Indication Agricultural Products (Aquatic)” in 2024. The Zhoushan Municipal Fisheries Association coordinated 16 participating enterprises, securing intended trade commitments exceeding RMB 36 million. Meanwhile, Jiangxi Nongfa Aquatic Group, Dayang Shijia, and the Shengsi Mussel Association also achieved substantial results, with Shengsi mussel products across all categories attracting strong expressions of intent for collaboration from buyers in Chile, Russia, and other markets.

Over 30 High‑Profile Events Held Concurrently—including strategic cooperation signing ceremonies between the China Fisheries Association and China National Geography Magazine, as well as the Zhejiang Sustainable Agriculture Brand Research Institute. Additional highlights featured the Salmon Industry Development Summit Forum, the Global Frozen Food Supply Chain Ecosystem Empowerment Conference, the Aquatic Geographical Indication Regional Public Brand Conference, the World Chef Championship, and the “Tide·Fresh Frontier Gala” new‑product launch event—bringing together leading global experts and industry leaders to engage in in-depth discussions on key topics such as industrial policies, market trends, and technological innovation. Notably, Yi Wang Xian’s 720‑jin bluefin tuna opening ceremony and Dayang Shijia’s tuna dissection show drew enthusiastic crowds and heightened on‑site excitement.

This year’s expo has established a globalized commercial ecosystem spanning capture, aquaculture, processing, and distribution. It not only showcases the latest advances in green development within the industry but also outlines a forward‑looking vision for the future of aquatic trade, instilling strong confidence in collaborative win‑win outcomes among global stakeholders.
