Weihai International Economic and Trade Exchange Center

Recently, the exhibition area of the Weihai International Economic and Trade Exchange Center project—invested in and constructed by China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd.—has officially been energized, marking the completion of all physical construction work in this section. Commissioning activities have now commenced, with plans to bring the facility into formal operation by the end of September this year.

Located in the core area of the Eastern Coastal New City, the project boasts a total investment of approximately RMB 3.214 billion and a gross floor area of about 252,600 square meters. It is one of the key “10+2” projects under Shandong Province’s initiative for transforming old growth drivers into new ones. The project adopts an overall layout characterized by “mountains at the back and the sea at the front, with a waterfront core,” integrating design elements that evoke “the sea, flow, extension, and vitality.” It will serve as an international, multi‑purpose economic and trade exchange center, combining exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and commercial services, and represents the city’s first international convention center as well as the venue for the Shandong Provincial Architectural Design Awards.

Situated in the heart of the Eastern Coastal New City, the Weihai International Economic and Trade Exchange Center is being developed through investment by Weihai Urban Investment Group and operated by Beichen Convention & Exhibition Group. Upon completion, it will become Weihai’s first internationally oriented, comprehensive conference and exhibition center. Its intelligent conference system has been designed to meet the highest international standards, capable of supporting high‑definition video conferencing and simultaneous interpretation on a global scale, while seamlessly integrating exhibition spaces, cultural exchange venues, and commercial service facilities.

The integrated exhibition and convention zone comprises four standard exhibition halls, one multi‑purpose hall, a double‑storey exhibition space, and a reception lobby, complemented by an 8,500‑square‑meter outdoor exhibition area. The standard exhibition halls are primarily designed to host large‑scale events, offering approximately 2,700 exhibition booths. Meanwhile, the multi‑purpose hall serves specialized and versatile functions, accommodating around 660 booths.
