SwissTech Convention Center
The SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, is situated in the heart of the Lake Geneva region—one of Switzerland’s most vibrant areas—boasting a superb natural setting. The center spans three levels: Campus, Cloud, and Garden.
Located not in the city of Geneva but on the campus of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Écublens, Vaud, the SwissTech Convention Center is the largest in the Lake Geneva region and the world’s first fully automated convention center, having opened in 2014.
Access to the EPFL campus is via its northern entrance, approximately a 12-minute metro ride from downtown Lausanne and about 60 kilometers from Geneva Airport—outside the urban core of Geneva. With a maximum capacity of 3,000 attendees, the facility features three main auditoriums, 26 modular meeting rooms, and a 5,000 m² exhibition area.
The exterior of the SwissTech Convention Center incorporates dye-sensitized solar-cell glass—a technology developed by EPFL—that simultaneously ensures light transmission and generates electricity, thereby reducing cooling energy consumption. Its diamond-patterned anodized aluminum façade resembles “floating origami cranes,” maximizing natural daylighting.
