Gas turbines are core equipment that support clean utilization and efficient conversion of energy. The increasing proportion of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar has created a significant demand for large-scale long-term energy storage, and hydrogen storage has unique advantages in large-scale long-term energy storage scenarios. Co-generation of hydrogen or pure hydrogen gas turbines for power generation is an effective way to efficiently convert and utilize hydrogen at scale.

Currently, the development scale of China's gas-fired power generation continues to expand, with its role becoming more prominent. However, it still lacks a clear dominant position; the issue of gas sources, which has long restricted gas-fired power generation, is being re-evaluated. Domestic gas and imported gas sources are abundant, but low-cost sources cannot be guaranteed. There have been significant breakthroughs in hydrogen production and application at home and abroad, with the development speed far exceeding expectations, especially in China. Domestic autonomous gas turbines such as G50 and Taihang 110 have made major technological breakthroughs, laying the groundwork for the hydrogen era's 'electricity-hydrogen-electricity'. In addition, the gas turbine industry chain is accelerating its improvement and maturation. Affected by the international environment, users, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and suppliers are all calling for the formation of the Chinese industry chain to hedge against supply risks brought about by geopolitical factors and other multiple factors. Currently, the development of the gas turbine industry faces both opportunities and challenges, urgently requiring continuous deepening of interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral exchanges of ideas and academic discussions, collaboration, and joint planning for development.

China(Chengdu)Gas Turbine Focus Conference(hereinafter referred to as GTF) has witnessed the technological development and deepening of international exchanges in the industry over the past decade. GTF 2023, themed "Gas Turbine Technology for a Low-Carbon Society", was held grandly at Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center. Important leaders such as Vice Mayor Zhou Wendong of Wuxi City, Chairman Jiang Yiren of the Ninth Chinese Power Engineering Society, and President Lin Zuo Ming of the Chinese Aeronautical Society attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Academician Ni Weidou of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Lu Bingheng, an expert in additive manufacturing, and Academician Pan Fusen also attended the conference and gave keynote speeches. The conference attracted a total of 2,000 guests from 645 units including universities, enterprises, research institutions, etc., from home and abroad, and nearly 100 exhibitors focused on the four major sectors of "complete engine manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, materials and components, auxiliary systems". They exhibited more than 400 products and models, covering an exhibition area of over 8,000 square meters, fully showcasing the most cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements in the field of aircraft engines and gas turbines. The scale and level of GTF 2023 exceeded expectations, receiving high praise from Academician Ni Weidou and other experts and leaders, who expressed higher expectations for GTF 2024: they hoped for more topics related to aircraft engines, greater internationalization, more attention and support from relevant government departments, and more young industry practitioners joining the Gas Turbine Focus Conference.

GTF 2024 will be held in Chengdu from July 10-12, 2024, co-hosted with the 2024 Gas Turbine Focus Conference and the 2024 Aeronautical Engine Focus Conference, creating a comprehensive and in-depth cooperation exchange platform in the form of "conferences + exhibitions".
