Profile
The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), founded in 1986, has grown into the world’s second-largest book fair. It is currently China’s most internationally influential platform for the book industry and also the most globally integrated book fair in Asia. Each year, it attracts exhibitors from numerous countries and regions worldwide, focusing on copyright transactions, physical import‑export trade, and reading promotion for both Chinese and foreign publications as well as digital multimedia content. The BIBF has become a major international publishing‑exchange event spanning books, digital media, animation, and related sectors.
The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF)is actively exploring innovative 5G applications in the publishing sector, aiming to deliver a large‑scale international cultural “cloud‑based” exchange experience that integrates copyright trading, publishing showcases, cultural exchanges, professional seminars, and reading‑promotion activities. (All content herein is copyrighted by Juzhan; unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.)
This edition of the BIBF Cloud Book Fair marks a transformation from traditional offline, two‑dimensional browsing and networking to a fully immersive, interactive online communication format. Existing content has been further refined, expanded, and restructured, giving rise to a new digital exhibition platform.
The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF)has built upon the functions of its offline counterpart to further optimize its services. In particular, the exhibition component leverages multiple digital presentation formats—such as text and images, video, 3D models, VR, and panoramic views—to guide key domestic publishers and visitors toward highlighting the year’s thematic focal points, premium publications, and the latest releases from guest countries and exhibitors at home and abroad. By deploying cloud servers globally and embedding cloud‑based communication modules, coupled with diversified event offerings, the platform ensures seamless interactions among domestic and international participants, facilitating ongoing online collaboration and sustained offline partnerships between Chinese and foreign publishers.
Beijing Book Fair – Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) tickets are e-tickets. Mainland China visitors must complete online pre-registration with real-name ID verification; overseas visitors must use passport verification; Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan visitors must use their travel permit. On site, verify entry with your ID card or by scanning the e-ticket QR code.

Review
The 31st Beijing International Book Fair will be held from June 18 to 22, 2025, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, under the theme “Promoting the Inheritance and Development of Civilizations, and Advancing Exchanges, Mutual Learning, and Win-Win Cooperation.” Malaysia serves as the Guest of Honor. This edition of the Book Fair has attracted a total of over 1,700 exhibitors from 80 countries and regions, an increase of nine countries compared with last year. The Beijing Book Fair has expanded its exhibition space to 60,000 square meters, showcasing 220,000 titles of Chinese and foreign publications, and hosting more than 1,000 cultural events. Nearly 300,000 visitors from 110 countries and regions have attended the fair.
Copyright trade has yielded substantial results, with a total of 2,826 copyright agreements concluded between Chinese and foreign partners—up 34.5% from 2024. Of these, 1,955 were export deals, representing a year-on-year increase of 37.1%. A special showcase of high-quality publications featured over 2,400 titles of books and periodicals, including newly added thematic sections dedicated to books commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and to world cultural heritage. Major multi-volume series such as the “Complete Collection of Dunhuang Caves,” the “Great Series of Palace Museum Collections,” and the “Complete Collection of Yungang Grottoes” were also on display.
International influence has been significantly enhanced, with over 120 foreign government officials and heads of international organizations—including the UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications and the President of the International Publishers Association—alongside more than 150 Chinese and foreign cultural scholars and sinologists in attendance. The President of Princeton University Press lauded BIBF for bringing together publishers, authors, and translators from around the globe, underscoring its role in fostering international cooperation.
AI technology has emerged as a central focus, with the Beijing International Publishing Forum, the inaugural Asia-Pacific Conference of the International STM Association, and the Third Conference on Publishing and Technological Innovation all centering on artificial intelligence. China’s cutting-edge AI research has spurred the global dissemination of related publications: Zhejiang Education Press has exported its “Artificial Intelligence” textbook to Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates, while Tsinghua University Press has signed agreements for traditional Chinese‑character and English editions of its “General Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence” series. Meanwhile, Yuewen Group’s AI‑assisted creation system can generate a novel outline in just 30 minutes, and iFLYTEK’s AI translation system boasts an accuracy rate exceeding 95%.
A Sino-Italian classic translation project has been launched, featuring four carefully selected works—“I and the Temple of Earth,” “An Introduction to Ancient Chinese Architecture,” “From New Science,” and “Songbook”—which will be translated into each other, opening a window of cross-cultural understanding for readers in both countries. The public exhibition area has created five immersive experience zones, integrating the BIBF Picture Book Exhibition, the Art Book Fair, the Illustration Exhibition, the Food Book Fair, and the World Gifts Market, with a pop-up “Harry Potter” store drawing over 40,000 visitors to the picture book exhibit. In addition, a report on the overseas library collection impact was released, revealing that in 2024, 11,839 titles from 430 Chinese publishing houses were permanently acquired by overseas libraries.
