On September 5, 2025, the three-day China International Coatings Expo, together with the 23rd China International Coatings Exhibition, successfully concluded at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Hosted by the China National Coatings Industry Association, this year’s event was themed “New Quality Leads, Technology Empowers,” spanning an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters. It brought together over 500 exhibitors from around the world, welcomed more than 100,000 professional visitors, hosted over 30 high-level forums, and facilitated more than a thousand collaborative partnerships.

As the largest gathering in China’s coatings industry, this edition showcased over a thousand innovative products and technologies across the entire value chain. Leading domestic and international coating manufacturers such as Huayi Fine Chemical, Sanqishu, and PPG, renowned raw-material suppliers like Longbai and Badifu, along with numerous smart equipment providers, all participated, highlighting environmentally friendly innovations—including waterborne and powder coatings—as well as functional materials like radiative cooling and graphene-based anti-corrosion solutions, vividly illustrating the industry’s journey toward green transformation and high-quality development.

The expo’s international profile was significantly enhanced, with delegations from the World Coatings Council and representatives of coating associations from 12 countries and regions attending. At the “2025 International Forum on Coatings Industry Development and Innovation,” several distinguished international speakers underscored China’s pivotal role as a key driver in the global coatings market. Concurrently, the university–industry–research–application exhibition zone featured 20 prestigious institutions, injecting intellectual momentum into technological innovation. Meanwhile, the National Artistic Coatings Application Skills Competition celebrated the spirit of craftsmanship, identifying and nurturing highly skilled professionals for the sector.

This year also marked the 40th anniversary of the founding of the China National Coatings Industry Association, and the Shanghai Coatings Expo dedicated a special section to retracing the industry’s remarkable journey. Standing at a new starting point, the China International Coatings Expo will continue to serve as a vital platform, helping China’s coatings industry transition—from scale expansion to value creation—driven by new productive forces, and writing a new chapter in its evolution from a “coatings powerhouse” to a “coatings superpower.” The industry will reconvene in Shanghai in July 2026.
