China Chongqing International Smart Industry Expo – Smart China Expo

The 2025 World Intelligence Industry Expo was successfully held from September 5 to 8 at the Chongqing International Expo Center. Co-hosted by the People’s Government of Chongqing Municipality and the People’s Government of Tianjin Municipality, with Singapore as the Guest Country and Sichuan Province as the Guest Province, this year’s expo featured “AI+” and “Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles” as its annual themes, making it the most significant national-level event in the intelligent industry sector.

In terms of exhibition scale, the expo set up a 130,000-square-meter indoor exhibition area and an outdoor experience zone exceeding 40,000 square meters, organized into five specialized sections: Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles, Digital Cities, Intelligent Robots, Low-Altitude Economy, and Smart Home. More than 600 exhibitors from around the globe showcased over 3,000 cutting-edge innovative products, technologies, and achievements. The event welcomed 70 professional delegations and attracted 350,000 visitors, generating more than 220,000 original reports and achieving a cumulative global exposure of 5.39 billion impressions.

The exhibitor lineup demonstrated characteristics of leadership and internationalization. In the Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles section, Changan Automobile erected the “Tianxu Intelligent Pavilion,” systematically presenting its “Tianxu Intelligence” technology ecosystem. The exhibit not only displayed multiple smart vehicle models but also unveiled the futuristic “flying car” Chang’an EH216-S and a highly advanced “flying backpack.” Equipped with three ducted propellers, each capable of delivering up to 90 kg of thrust, the backpack can reach a maximum flight speed of 60 km/h. Seres showcased its pioneering self-developed “Magic Cube Technology Platform,” the world’s first full-stack multi-power-compatible platform, enabling seamless integration of super‑charge, pure electric, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Additionally, 20 renowned automakers—including Tesla, Geely, Great Wall, and BYD—alongside 108 component suppliers and ecosystem partners such as Bosch and Yinwang, participated in the exhibition.

In the Intelligent Robots section, Unitree Robotics’ humanoid robot staged a boxing match, demonstrating remarkable agility by autonomously rising within five seconds after falling—a clear indication of advancing embodied intelligence and autonomous multi‑robot collaboration. In the Low-Altitude Economy segment, 68 companies including China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and DJI presented a diverse array of products, ranging from cargo drones and agricultural drones to medium‑altitude, long‑endurance unmanned aerial vehicles. Meanwhile, in the Digital Cities section, Chongqing Design Group debuted its “Lingji Smart City” large‑scale model, leveraging the nation’s first AI‑CG bimodal data fusion technology to intelligently decipher engineering drawings and automatically construct hierarchical, household‑level 3D building models, significantly boosting modeling efficiency while slashing costs.

In the Smart Home exhibit, visitors experienced firsthand how AI is bringing science fiction closer to everyday life: refrigerators that recommend recipes based on available ingredients; bathroom mirror cabinets that monitor skin conditions in real time and tailor personalized skincare regimens; balcony windows equipped with wind‑and‑rain sensors that automatically close within three seconds during severe storms.

As the sole Guest Province for this edition, Sichuan Province established a dedicated Sichuan Pavilion, where 17 high‑quality smart‑industry enterprises exhibited 60 key products spanning smart terminals, robots, large‑scale models, and advanced computing. Zhongli Zhihang’s RAITE hypervisor—an embedded virtualization operating system for automotive use—has already secured orders from numerous mainstream domestic automakers, with contracts totaling over two million units. Yuefan Innovation maintains a leading position in urban and industrial transportation, having deployed its solutions in more than 50 cities worldwide and serving over 40 million consumers. Huacun Zhigu released its “Huacun Zhigu HCI+AI Hyper-Converged Infrastructure” TGStor HCI 1600 series during the expo, integrating computing, networking, storage, security, and AI into a single unified platform.

International cooperation: As the Guest Country, Singapore brought forward dozens of commercial projects in areas such as megacity governance, digital trade, artificial intelligence, cloud security, low‑altitude economy, and robotics. Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, as well as Health, Chen Jiahao, explicitly stated that over the past decade, the China–Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project has continuously deepened and expanded digital connectivity, heralding vast potential for future collaboration in AI applications, smart city solutions, and talent development. At the roundtable on Sino‑British industry‑education integration and vocational training, both sides pledged to jointly promote vocational education integration through school‑enterprise matchmaking events, co‑built practical training bases, and the development of industry‑specific certification standards, thereby establishing a sustainable cooperative mechanism.

A rich array of concurrent activities: During the expo, 12 high‑profile industry ecosystem conferences were convened, specialized laboratories focusing on quantum computing and quantum AI were inaugurated, and four trusted data space alliances—covering cities, automobiles, medical insurance, and motorcycles—were established. Eighteen industry exchange and matchmaking events, including large‑medium‑small enterprise cross‑linkage sessions, guest‑industry pairing meetings, and Tianjin–Chongqing collaborative thematic dialogues, resulted in numerous investment and procurement agreements. Six professional competitions, including drone racing events, were meticulously organized, attracting over 20,000 Chinese and international participants. Renowned figures such as Shen Xiangyang, Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Engineering; Zhang Jianwei, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Nai Ke, Member of the Siemens Management Board, addressed industry challenges through thematic presentations and roundtable discussions.

Abundant contract outcomes: A total of 298 major projects were signed during the expo, with contracted values exceeding RMB 200 billion. Among these, 113.7 billion yuan—accounting for over 50%—was allocated to three trillion‑yuan‑level flagship industries. These landmark projects will further consolidate Chongqing’s status as a nationally important advanced manufacturing hub, driving the region’s transformation toward high‑end, intelligent, and green industries, and helping to establish a nationally influential center for technological innovation and accelerate the cultivation of new productivity forces.

President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory letter: President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to this year’s expo, emphasizing that “the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping human production and lifestyles, redefining the global industrial landscape. China attaches great importance to AI development, actively promoting the deep integration of AI-driven technological innovation and industrial advancement, empowering high‑quality economic and social progress, and enhancing the quality of life for our people.”
