Yangtze River International Conference Center
The Yangtze River International Conference Center is a world-class global connectivity hub and a significant asset for Nanjing's westward expansion across the Yangtze River to the new urban center of the northern bank. Located in the eastern coastal urban belt and the Yangtze River Delta hub, Nanjing's Binhai New District has recently been transforming into a new global business center.
As a flagship project in the heart of the new district, the Yangtze River International Conference Center was commissioned by the Binhai New District of Nanjing to Morphosis architectural firm with the aim to create a world-class venue for conferences and large-scale events, while showcasing Nanjing's eco-friendly sustainable development philosophy. Adjacent to the Yangtze River, the project design integrates architecture, landscape, and circulation planning, echoing the geographical and cultural characteristics of Nanjing as a gateway to the sea and a center of literary culture. It complements the thriving commercial landscape of the northern bank new district and the rich historical charm of Gulou District.
Within the conference center's podium, the conference center spans over 36,000 sqm, with different functional requirements dictating the building's zoning design. The single tower is a hotel with 340 rooms offering views of the Yangtze River. The vast meeting area in the podium is constructed with steel frames and spatial rectangular trusses, forming a series of meeting and exhibition spaces of various scales arranged around a central arcade. A 200-meter east-west central corridor divides the podium into north and south wings.
