China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo Profile
The China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE, abbreviated as the China–Africa Expo), is co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Hunan Province. It stands as one of the most important platforms for economic and trade cooperation under the China–Africa Cooperation Forum mechanism.Establishing the China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo was the first concrete measure outlined in the “Eight Major Initiatives” of China–Africa cooperation, and it also represents the first national-level, comprehensive, and international mechanism for China–Africa economic and trade collaboration. The Expo is scheduled to be held every two years. During the inaugural edition, the two sides signed a total of 81 cooperative agreements spanning such sectors as agriculture, equipment manufacturing, infrastructure, aviation, and finance.
At present, China–Africa cooperation has reached a new starting point, embracing fresh opportunities and calling for renewed efforts. The China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo will seek to align with the new characteristics, emerging demands, and evolving trends of China–Africa economic and trade cooperation in the new era, introducing innovative arrangements in areas such as the event’s organizational model, conceptual framework, exhibition‑area design, and business‑matching initiatives, with the aim of shaping an Expo that is distinctive, brand‑driven, and highly effective. The Expo comprises two main components: conferences and forums, and an exhibition showcase. The forum program includes the China–Africa Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Cooperation Forum, the China–Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum, and numerous economic and trade negotiation sessions. The exhibition component will adopt a hybrid online–offline format, with a total physical exhibition space of 64,000 square meters.(Copyright of this article belongs to Juzhan; unauthorized reproduction is prohibited)
