To enhance the international competitiveness of China's service sector and trade in services, and to fully leverage their role in accelerating the transformation of the economic development model, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council approved in 2012 the co-hosting of the event by the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. It was renamed the China International Fair for Trade in Services in 2019. As China's economic development enters a new era, the fair has also entered a new stage of quality improvement and upgrading. In 2020, its abbreviation was changed from "Beijing Fair" to "CIFTIS".

It has become a vital platform for disseminating concepts, connecting supply and demand, sharing business opportunities, and promoting common development in the international trade in services sector. As the largest comprehensive exhibition in the global trade in services sector and the leading exhibition in China's service trade sector, it stands alongside the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) and the China International Import Expo (CIIE) as one of China's three major exhibition platforms for opening up.

The China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) is a national-level, international, and comprehensive exhibition co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. Aligning with the rapid development trend of global trade in services, it has become a crucial exhibition for disseminating concepts, connecting supply and demand, sharing business opportunities, and promoting common development in the international trade in services sector.

The China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) leads open innovation and promotes mutual benefit and sharing. Aiming to become "the world's most influential first-class international exhibition for trade in services," it builds a new platform for governments, international organizations, and global service trade enterprises and institutions to showcase, communicate, negotiate, and cooperate. It erects a new bridge for global exhibitors and buyers to share business opportunities and promote common development, and creates a new channel for renowned figures from government, business, academia, and research worldwide to discuss hot topics in trade in services, explore sustainable development, and achieve win-win cooperation.

The Chinese government will work with countries, international organizations, and institutions worldwide to strive to build CIFTIS into a bellwether and barometer for the development of global trade in services, a new carrier for promoting international trade development and world economic growth, and play a positive role in fostering the prosperity and development of global trade in services.
