The Exhibition Value of the Autumn Canton Fair—Phase II

  • The Canton Fair is China’s longest-running, largest-scale, most comprehensive international trade event, offering the widest range of products and attracting the greatest number of buyers. It is widely regarded as “China’s No. 1 Trade Show” and serves as a barometer and weathervane for China’s foreign trade. Established in 1957, the Canton Fair has been held continuously for over a century. Its second phase, themed “Quality Home,” stands as the annual flagship platform for the entire home‑furnishings industry chain, with an international influence that consistently ranks among the top of its kind worldwide.
  • The core value of exhibiting lies in its unparalleled ability to aggregate global buyer networks and its endorsement by a national‑level platform. At the 138th Autumn Canton Fair in 2025, Phase II drew nearly 240,000 overseas buyers from 223 countries and regions, a 6.8% increase compared with the same period last year, setting yet another record. Buyers spanned traditional markets in Europe and North America as well as emerging markets along the Belt and Road Initiative. Leading global retail groups—including U.S. retailer Target, French supermarket chain Carrefour, and Japan’s AEON—sent robust purchasing delegations, providing enterprises with a strategic gateway to engage directly with key global procurement decision‑makers.
  • The fair has established a one‑stop procurement platform covering the entire home‑furnishings industry chain. With a total exhibition area of 515,000 square meters and nearly 25,000 booths, Phase II encompasses three major sectors—household goods, gifts & décor, and building materials & furniture—spread across 15 distinct zones. Over 10,000 companies participate, including more than 2,900 high‑quality enterprises recognized as National High‑Tech Enterprises, Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative “Little Giants,” Green Manufacturers, or holders of National Industrial Design Centers—an increase of over 10% compared with the previous session. This holistic “home‑furnishings” concept not only facilitates industry networking but also enhances procurement efficiency, meeting the one‑stop sourcing needs of global buyers.
  • The fair aligns with three major industry trends—smartization, green development, and quality enhancement—creating a premier showcase for innovative products. From massage bathtubs featuring integrated smart controls and ambient lighting, to seamless smart control systems adaptable to diverse spatial settings, and even innovative offerings such as Oubona’s intelligent viewing pavilions, the “innovation content” and “green attributes” of exhibited products continue to rise. Consumers are increasingly willing to pay for emotional value and lifestyle enhancements, driving the home‑furnishings sector through a profound transformation—from price‑driven competition to value‑oriented differentiation.
  • For Chinese enterprises, the Canton Fair represents a strategic gateway for expanding into global markets, connecting with international resources, and showcasing brand strength. Many companies have leveraged the fair to make the leap from “manufacturing” to “creation,” completing their transformation from contract manufacturing and OEM/ODM operations to developing independent brands. Amid today’s complex and volatile global economic landscape, the Canton Fair’s robust attendance and lively negotiation activity underscore the unwavering confidence of the international business community in China’s economy. Enterprises can use this platform to tap into global procurement networks, transitioning from simply “selling products” to “selling brands” and “selling designs.”

Exhibition Review

The second phase of the 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in 2025 was successfully held from October 23 to 27 at the Guangzhou Pazhou Complex. This edition of the fair was themed “Quality Home,” serving as the annual flagship event for the entire home‑goods industry chain.

In terms of scale, the second phase covered a total exhibition area of 515,000 square meters, featuring nearly 25,000 booths across three major sectors—household goods, gifts & décor, and building materials & furniture—spread over 15 distinct zones, with more than 10,000 exhibiting companies participating. Among them, over 2,900 were high‑quality enterprises holding national-level designations such as National High‑Tech Enterprises, Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative “Little Giant” firms, Green Manufacturing Enterprises, and National Industrial Design Centers—representing an increase of more than 10% compared to the previous session. As of October 27, nearly 240,000 overseas buyers had attended in person, hailing from 223 countries and regions worldwide, a 6.8% rise year over year and a new record.

This year’s fair showcased numerous highlights, with product innovation and sustainability emerging as the central themes. Zhejiang Senchuan Furniture Co., Ltd. presented its “MUG” multifunctional stool, which can be flipped into a plant pot, embodying practical aesthetics through multi‑purpose functionality; young consumers are willing to pay a premium of US$1–2 for eco‑friendly products. Hangzhou Zhongyi Industrial Co., Ltd. unveiled its Oubona smart viewing pavilion, equipped with automotive‑grade intelligent control systems powered by solar technology and high‑efficiency energy storage, capable of generating approximately 15 kWh of electricity per day and installable in as little as two days. Guangdong Saint Laurent Sanitary Technology Co., Ltd. exhibited a massage bathtub featuring integrated smart water‑control and ambient lighting systems, customizable to meet diverse market demands and highly popular in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

Chinese enterprises are accelerating their global brand expansion and reshaping export competitiveness. Zhejiang Dabolin Valve Co., Ltd., which started as an OEM manufacturer, now operates its own “DOUBLE-LIN” brand with agents in over 20 countries and exports to 108 nations and regions worldwide. Henan Jingrui Glass Technology Co., Ltd. has transitioned from “manufacturing” to “creation,” leveraging innovative processes to command prices two to three times higher than comparable conventional products. Chaozhou Songfa Ceramics Co., Ltd., with more than two decades of participation, introduced over 20 new ceramic collections this year—featuring fruit motifs and rustic patterns inspired by current trends—drawing keen interest from buyers in Europe, North America, and Central Asia. Linyi Ronghua Cultural Creative Rattan Crafts Co., Ltd. displayed handcrafted, creatively woven artisanal pieces, securing US$70,000 in orders on the very first day of the fair.

A rich array of concurrent events created a high‑level platform for industry exchange. This session is expected to host three thematic forums focusing on key issues such as the integration of domestic and international trade in the home‑goods sector, innovations in cross‑border e‑commerce, and legal safeguards under the Belt and Road Initiative, alongside nearly 160 new‑product launch events. Leading global supermarket purchasing delegations—including retailer Target, French hypermarket Carrefour, and Japanese retail giant AEON—gathered in force. Additionally, 54 overseas groups participated, including the UK‑China Trade Association, the Victorian Building Industry Association of Australia, and Kenya’s China Information and Cultural Exchange Co., Ltd.

The fair yielded significant outcomes and received enthusiastic industry feedback. Exhibiting companies widely acknowledged that the Canton Fair remains an irreplaceable “golden platform” for expanding overseas markets, providing a direct showcase of product upgrades, gathering market insights, and exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration. Attendees emphasized that the fair not only serves as a premier venue for brand exposure and business matchmaking but also functions as a critical hub for discerning industry trends and charting pathways toward intelligent, sustainable transformation. The home‑goods sector is undergoing a profound shift—from price‑driven competition to value‑oriented differentiation—with consumers increasingly willing to invest in emotional appeal and lifestyle‑enhancing offerings.

The third phase of the light industrial and textile fair took place from October 31 to November 4, covering categories such as men’s and women’s apparel, sportswear, children’s wear, footwear, luggage, home textiles, food products, and office stationery. The Canton Fair will continue to provide an efficient platform for global trade exchanges and collaborations.
