The 34th Shanghai International Hotel & Catering Expo (HOTELEX Shanghai) 2026 was successfully held from March 30 to April 2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Hosted by Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co., Ltd., this edition of the show was themed “Bringing Together Global Business Opportunities, Gathering World Premieres,” making it the most significant annual trade event for the hotel and catering industries in Asia.

Exhibition Space and Exhibitor Numbers Reach New Highs. The total exhibition area spanned400,000 square meters, attracting4,018 high-quality exhibitorsfrom around the globe. The event featured 14 major sectors—including foodservice equipment, coffee and tea, beverage supply chains, bakery equipment, food and beverage packaging, alcoholic beverages, and franchise opportunities—showcasing tens of thousands of new products making their global debuts.The expo drew a total of 303,576 professional visitors, including18,431 international attendees, marking a 48.08% increase over 2025. Visitors came from189 countries and regions, underscoring the event’s growing international reach.

A Rich Array of Highlights: New-Generation Productivity Reshaping the Industry Landscape. Robots have made extensive inroads into coffee shops, tea bars, back-of-house operations, and central kitchens. CAYE Coffee Technology unveiled cutting-edge commercial coffee solutions, while micro‑cosmic embodied robots demonstrated latte art mastery at café counters. Companies such as Yuanluo Technology, YouTe Intelligent Kitchen, and Tineco Smart Home showcased AI‑driven, autonomous large‑model‑based kitchen solutions. In terms of product innovation, Hairong Technology leveraged its proprietary dual‑layer emulsification anchoring technology to solve the longstanding challenge of layering and flocculation in acidic new‑tea drinks. Meanwhile, emerging domestic coffee machine brands—including Bu Ku Coffee, Dazheng, and Gemilai—presented nearly one hundred patented technologies, forming a comprehensive showcase of China’s “smart manufacturing” in the coffee machine sector.

Significant Leap in Internationalization: Sino‑Cuisine Expansion and Raw Material Imports Driving Growth.Overseas visitors increased by 48.08% compared to 2025, spanning 189 countries and regions, with Malaysia, South Korea, Russia, and others accounting for the majority. The exhibition hosted overseas business-matching sessions, featuring three dedicated tracks—Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East/North America—drawing 117 international buyers from 23 countries and regions to engage in in-depth matchmaking with 81 domestic exhibitors. In addition, a series of thematic forums were organized around strategies for Chinese cuisine’s global expansion, inviting representatives from companies and institutions with proven international experience to foster cross‑border market exchanges and interactions. Concurrently, the inaugural World Coffee Flavor Map made its debut at the show, bringing together specialty coffee beans sourced directly from producers in Brazil, Panama, Colombia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and other key origins, thereby enriching the domestic coffee market with an even broader spectrum of flavors.

Thirteen Distinctive Themed Zones and Six Trendy Markets Break Through B‑to‑B Boundaries. The exhibition innovatively established specialized zones focusing on global private-label and OEM manufacturing, functional foods and beverages, and integrated central kitchen solutions, while deepening engagement across supply chains and smart manufacturing. At the same time, six themed markets—including the Global Flavor CHA Beverage Culture Festival, Fair Field Market 3.0, the 2026 Shanghai International Coffee Culture Festival, the “Peng Peng” Bread Festival, the Dreamy Sugar & Chocolate Market, and The Bar & Drinks—opened concurrently, attracting C‑to‑C foot traffic and drawing enthusiasts of coffee, tea, bread, confectionery, and chocolate, thus achieving two-way synergy between the professional trade show and the consumer market.

A Rich Array of Concurrent Events. During the exhibition, 33 high‑level industry forumswere held, featuring 495 industry thought leaders as speakers, drawing over 11,000 attendees and addressing hot topics such as innovation in coffee and tea, smart kitchen technologies, digital transformation in the foodservice sector, the globalization of Chinese cuisine, and supply chain restructuring.Seventeen internationally recognized competitions also took place concurrently, bringing together 349 expert judges and 1,099 competitors across prestigious events including the World Barista Championship, the World Trendy Beverage Competition, the China International Mixology Masters, and the Chinese Culinary Arts Challenge.
