The Exhibition Value of Maison Shanghai Design Week
- The Core Engine of the Shanghai Pudong Home Furnishings Dual Exhibitions: As a sister show to the China International Furniture Expo held concurrently at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center, it is positioned as an integrated design-industry ecosystem platform that combines “exhibition viewing, product sourcing, educational tours, award recognition, and networking.” With coordinated operations across two venues and staggered schedules, it efficiently attracts global professional audiences.
- Comprehensive Coverage of the Entire Industry Chain: Four major pavilions form a complete, design-centric value chain. Pavilion H1 focuses on interior décor and material aesthetics; Pavilion H2 sets trends and champions lifestyle aesthetics; Pavilion H3, the Design Summit, brings together top-tier design brands and high-profile special exhibitions; and Pavilion H4, the Factory Direct Sales Hall, gathers source manufacturers to enable precise alignment between design and production.
- A New Paradigm of Factory Direct Sales Reshapes the Industry Chain: Pioneering the “Factory Direct Sales Pavilion” and themed exhibitions under the “Long-Term Leasing Era,” this initiative directly addresses challenges such as low procurement efficiency and limited manufacturer visibility, providing designers and buyers with an efficient, transparent supply-chain gateway and targeting high-growth niche markets like hotel‑style apartments.
- A Premier Platform for Emerging Design Trends: Pavilion H3 presents museum‑level special exhibitions by renowned designers including Lu Zhirong, Lü Yongzhong, and Yang Mingjie. The “No Bamboo, No Home 2025” exhibition fosters co‑creation between veteran designers and bamboo enterprises. Meanwhile, the DIA China Design Intelligence Award zone showcases innovations from companies such as Unitree Robotics and SenseTime, outlining a future where AI and robotics empower the home‑furnishing sector.
- A Cross‑Industry Innovation Hub: Designer’s Night seamlessly integrates fashion, art, and home‑furnishing design, serving as a central nexus for resource connection and cross‑industry leadership within the broader home‑furnishing sector. From commercial space methodologies to ESG‑driven green growth strategies, more than 100 forums provide forward‑looking insights to inform corporate strategic decision‑making.
- An Upgraded Awards System That Adds Valuable Recognition: The China Golden Pin Design Award has undergone a strategic upgrade, introducing the China Architectural Decoration Golden Pin Award and integrating interdisciplinary resources spanning architecture, interior design, and related fields, thereby lending national‑level authority to outstanding designs.
- An International Resource‑Linking Hub: Attracting professional visitors from 174 countries and regions worldwide, with a significant increase in the share of overseas buyers. Through events such as “Global Buyers’ Night” and “Precision Business Matching Sessions,” it establishes a robust platform for enterprises to explore diverse international market opportunities.

Exhibition Review
From September 9 to 12, 2025, Modern Shanghai Design Week and the Modern Shanghai Fashion & Home Exhibition were successfully held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center. This edition of the event was themed “Design ∞ Possibility,” forming a dual‑exhibition synergy with the China International Furniture Fair and jointly marking their thirtieth anniversary. During the show, a total of 47,077 professional visitors were welcomed, representing a year-on-year increase of 55.6%, while international attendance surged by 123%, spanning 136 countries and regions worldwide.
Centered around Hall H3—the Design High Ground—the exhibition established a thought‑leading design hub. Lu Zhirong presented the special exhibition “One Square,” whose thirty philosophical questions sparked widespread industry resonance; Lü Yongzhong’s thematic group show “Living‑Furniture Practice” showcased nearly two decades of exploratory evolution; Zhong Song’s “Heavenly Objects: A Realm Beyond Boundaries” redefined contemporary high‑end lifestyles; and Yang Mingjie’s “The Evolution of Design” delved deeply into the new design values emerging from technological transformation. In addition, the Golden Pin Design Award for Chinese Furniture underwent a strategic upgrade, introducing the “Golden Pin Award for Architectural Decoration in China,” and signing both the “Golden Pin Award New Five‑Year Strategic Agreement” and the “DIA China Design & Manufacturing Grand Prize Strategic Agreement,” thereby elevating the event to an integrated value community that brings together top-tier design resources.
The exhibition evolved into an innovative ecosystem of “Design × Technology × Capital.” The special exhibition “No Home Without Bamboo 2025” brought together over 20 designers and more than 10 bamboo‑related enterprises to co‑create over 50 original masterpieces; the Modern Intangible Cultural Heritage Institute facilitated a dialogue between Jingdezhen blue-and-white porcelain and Jiangnan tapestry weaving and contemporary life; Morgan Smart Home collaborated with Zhong Song to redefine the aesthetics of smart homes; and the DIA China Design & Manufacturing Grand Prize exhibition area showcased cutting‑edge innovations from companies such as Unitree Robotics and SenseTime.
Hall H4 featured the flagship “Factory Direct Sales Pavilion,” gathering over 200 source‑level manufacturers and integrating an online mini‑program to create a 365‑day, round‑the‑clock “Design Supply Chain Express.” The “Long‑Term Rental Era” Factory Direct Sales Exhibition precisely targeted fast‑growing markets such as hotel‑style apartments. Throughout the event, more than 100 high‑profile forums were held, addressing hot topics including the globalization of design and trends on Xiaohongshu. At Designer’s Night, avant‑garde fashion designer Zhang Chi presented a modern runway show that seamlessly blended fashion, art, and home‑furnishing design, establishing the event as a central nexus for cross‑industry leaders in the broader home‑furnishing sector.
