Profile

The Shanghai International Battery Technology Exhibition (SNEC) is being held to advance the “dual carbon” goals, fully implement key directives on national energy transformation, address industrial bottlenecks, optimize the energy mix, and ensure the effective implementation of China’s energy security strategy. In alignment with the national hydrogen‑fuel‑cell demonstration city clusters, the event seeks to seize opportunities presented by the country’s fuel‑cell vehicle demonstration program. By focusing on breakthroughs in core technologies, scaling up deployment, proactively shaping industry pathways, and accelerating the rollout of supportive policies, the exhibition aims to vigorously develop the hydrogen economy. Leveraging the role of the Shanghai‑centered “1+6” urban demonstration cluster, while coordinating with the Beijing and Guangzhou hydrogen‑fuel‑cell demonstration clusters, the event will play a pivotal part in achieving carbon neutrality.

This is an influential, international, professional, and large‑scale exhibition. With the theme “Empowering Green Hydrogen, Supporting Carbon Neutrality,” the event plans to invite leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Energy Administration to deliver keynote addresses, as well as relevant Shanghai municipal officials responsible for the new‑energy sector to offer welcoming remarks. Additionally, it will feature thematic speeches by heads of the United Nations Development Programme, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, and leading organizations and institutions in the global hydrogen industry. Renowned scientists and academicians in the fields of hydrogen and fuel cells will present cutting‑edge technological insights, while senior analysts from international financial and research institutions will discuss investment trends and industry prospects. The event will also welcome prominent leaders from both domestic and international hydrogen‑related sectors. (All content herein is copyrighted by Juzhan; unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.)

The Shanghai International Battery Technology Exhibition (SNEC) will strive to create an international, professional platform for collaboration, exchange, and co‑innovation among government, industry, academia, research institutes, and financial stakeholders. Together, participants will explore the entire hydrogen value chain—covering hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, and the manufacturing and application of fuel‑cell systems—with particular emphasis on technological breakthroughs in renewable‑energy‑based green hydrogen production and viable pathways toward commercialization.

The Shanghai International Battery Technology Exhibition (SNEC) will adopt a hybrid format combining conferences and exhibitions, aiming to partner with industry leaders to showcase achievements and practical applications in hydrogen and fuel‑cell technologies. Through these efforts, the event seeks to jointly lead and drive the post‑pandemic development of the hydrogen energy sector, fostering technical exchanges, collaborative initiatives, and investment opportunities in the integrated utilization of solar, hydrogen, and energy‑storage technologies, thereby realizing mutually beneficial growth.

The 11th International Exhibition on Energy Storage and Battery Technologies & Equipment (SNEC ES+), held from October 9 to 12, 2025, was successfully hosted at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.Co-organized by authoritative bodies including the Global Green Energy Council, the Asia-Pacific New Energy Industry Association, and the European Energy Storage Industry Association, this year’s event was themed “Building a New-Era Energy Storage Industrial Chain to Empower Next-Generation Power Systems and Smart Grids,” making it the most significant annual platform for technological exchange and business matchmaking in the global energy storage and battery industries.

A Grand-Scale Exhibition and ConferenceThe event featured a grand opening ceremony and multiple high-level forums, drawing over 3,000 representatives from government, industry, academia, and research institutions across dozens of countries. The exhibition brought together more than 500 companies spanning the energy storage and hydrogen value chain, with leading enterprises such as Huawei Digital Power, GCL Group, Tianneng Group, EVE Energy, GoodWe, KSTAR, Chint Power, TBEA, Nandu Power, Ruipu Lanjun, Maitian Energy, Shenghong Electric, and Pylontech all showcasing their latest innovations. The fair also welcomed an official European Energy Storage Delegation, as well as an international procurement delegation comprising top-tier companies and institutions from Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, India, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Cambodia, and other nations, further elevating the event’s global reach.

Three World-Class Launch Events: Core Highlights of the FairAt the opening ceremony, the “Global New Energy Empowerment Center” was officially launched. Located in Shanghai’s Hongqiao International Central Business District, the center will focus on six core functions—project development and resource matching, capital attraction and investment‑financing services, technology incubation, and industrial implementation—to serve as an ecological hub fostering efficient resource connectivity and synergistic industrial collaboration. Concurrently, the “Global Energy Storage and Battery Council,” co‑initiated by the Asia-Pacific New Energy Industry Association and the European Energy Storage Industry Association, was established to create a premier platform that pools global expertise, accelerates project deployment, and drives market expansion. Additionally, the “Global Energy Storage Multi‑Innovation Challenge,” jointly launched by Saudi International Power and Water Company, SNEC, and CBC, was officially inaugurated, encouraging innovators worldwide to explore new applications integrating energy storage and hydrogen technologies.

Technical Forums Bring Together World-Leading Expertise. Concurrent with the exhibition, the second International Summit on the New Ecosystem of “Source–Grid–Load–Storage–Hydrogen” for Next-Generation Power Systems, as well as the second Investment and Financing Summit on the Energy Storage and Hydrogen Industries and Sustainable Finance, were held. Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of the Global Green Energy Council, emphasized: “In the future, power generation cannot stand without storage, the grid cannot remain stable without it, and electricity use will lack flexibility without it.” Zhang Tianren, Chairman of Tianneng Holding Group, noted that the 15th Five-Year Plan period will be a critical window for energy storage development, with installed capacity expected to grow nearly tenfold. Han Xiaoqi, Director of Safety at the Electric Power Planning & Design Institute, along with numerous other experts, delivered presentations on key topics such as energy storage safety, long-duration storage, and grid-forming energy storage.

Sino‑Foreign Energy Storage Project Matching Event Yields Substantial Results. The event attracted a strong lineup of representatives from multiple countries, with clearly defined market needs. Participants reached consensus across various dimensions, including technology transfer, equipment supply, and project financing. This not only established a precise platform for Sino‑foreign collaboration but also represented concrete steps toward multilateral efforts to address climate change and advance sustainable energy development.
