Exhibition Review

The 39th Shanghai International Franchise Expo (SFE) 2025 was successfully held from March 27 to 30 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Pudong–Hongqiao, Shanghai. With the theme “Celebrating the Momentum of Franchising, Ushering in a New Era Across the Globe,” the event kicked off with an investment boom on its very first day. Renowned franchise brands and prospective franchisees from across China once again converged in Shanghai, exploring the transformative business opportunities emerging in the new market cycle.

In terms of exhibition scale, this edition brought together over 300 premium franchise brands, spanning more than 120 mainstream sub‑sectors within four major categories: food & beverage, retail, services, and franchise resources. Amidst bustling crowds, attendees sought to strike a dynamic balance between optimizing existing market share and unlocking new growth opportunities, reaping substantial rewards through lively discussions and strategic partnerships. The show featured well‑known industry leaders and rising stars, including Fan Tie Iron Rice, Luo Ma Claypot, Lianwei Biji Anshun Duoduo Hot Pot, Hetian Water Shop, Longmen Flower Clams, Zhang Fuyuan Large Bowl Noodles, Jukoufu, Tehua De, Aixixili, Nuowa Coffee, Xixuan, Algebraist Coffee, Ziyan Baiwei Chicken, ARTEASG, Xueji Fried Snacks, Qian Damai, Xin Yi Takoyaki, Laoxiang Chicken, 7 Fen Tian, and many others.

The exhibitor lineup showcased a dual trend of “leading players driving the market and emerging brands bursting onto the scene”. Ziyan Baiwei Chicken, one of the “Big Four” in the marinated‑food sector, joined forces with Jingcuixiang, Lao Han Stir‑Fried Chicken, Shaguo Zhuangyuan, and Feng Si Niang Foot‑Rest Beef to make their debut at the expo. Meanwhile, Laoxiang Chicken, which has maintained a strictly company‑operated model for over two decades while expanding to 1,000 outlets before opening up franchising, explicitly set a goal of reaching 10,000 stores—primarily through franchising—and attended SFE to pursue further growth. Also on display was Fashilong, a listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s Main Board, which presented its cutting‑edge prefabricated interior‑fitting solutions, offering integrated store‑construction and delivery services to franchise networks such as Mixue Ice Cream and Laoxiang Chicken.

A rich array of concurrent events graced the opening days. On the first day, the “Stable Growth, New Breakthroughs—2025 SFE Spring Franchise Summit,” co‑hosted by the Shanghai Chain Operation Association, Shanghai BoHua International Exhibition Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Yibison Exhibition Co., Ltd., commenced with great fanfare. Senior executives from leading franchise brands—including Laoxiang Chicken, Xueji Fried Snacks, Lu Shan Chuan, Liao Ji Bangbang Chicken, Fei Shu Pot Stickers, and Ji Liu Da Ren—as well as prominent industry media outlets such as “What’s Worth Franchising,” “Qiang Ge Talks Food,” and “Retail Business Review,” gathered to explore strategic thinking and practical approaches under the theme “Slow Growth, Steady Breakthrough.” On the same day, Shanghai BoHua International Exhibition Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Strong Light Restaurant Franchise Super‑Franchisee Community, hosted the second China Super‑Franchisee Conference. The event brought together renowned chain brands and emerging forces, including Tan San Niang Fresh‑Cut Self‑Service Beef Hot Pot, Fan Bo Bo, Hetian Water Shop, Jasmine Milk White, Ji Liu Da Ren, Wugu Fish Noodle, Tang Xu Handmade Sweet Soup Shop, and others, attracting 300 super‑franchisees and drawing over 10 million online followers in the food‑and‑beverage niche, along with more than 20 top-tier food‑industry influencers who were present to witness the proceedings.

Announcement of influential brand awards.
