The China Western International Expo City in Chengdu (hereinafter referred to as “West Expo City”), serving as the permanent venue for the China West International Fair, is a flagship exhibition project designated by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, and a major catalyst for the development of the Tianfu New Area. Groundbreaking took place in September 2012, with the project name inscribed by then-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Wu Bangguo. West Expo City will be planned and developed in tandem with adjacent integrated transportation networks, hotels, office buildings, commercial facilities, and other supporting services, forming a fully equipped, industry–city–commerce–living–work–leisure–exhibition complex.

The first phase of West Expo City—the International Exhibition and Convention Center—was completed and passed inspection in August 2016, boasting a total exhibition area of 305,000 square meters (including 205,000 square meters indoors and 100,000 square meters outdoors). Since its official opening in June 2017, it has successfully hosted such large-scale events as the 18th and 19th Chengdu International Furniture Industry Expos, the 98th National Sugar and Wine Products Fair, the second Import and Export Exhibition of the China West International Fair, the 5th Sichuan Agricultural Expo, the inaugural Tianfu Financial Expo, and the 74th Education Equipment Exhibition, accommodating a total of 45 exhibitions with an aggregate exhibition space exceeding 1.5 million square meters.

With the commissioning of the International Exhibition and Convention Center at West Expo City, Chengdu has risen to become the largest exhibition venue in central and western China, providing superior facilities for hosting high‑profile, large‑scale trade shows and events across the province.

Phase II of West Expo City encompasses a conference center, hotel, and an exhibition‑business hub, with a total floor area of approximately 228,000 square meters. Construction commenced in January 2017, with an anticipated completion and operational launch by the end of 2019. Upon completion, Phase II will significantly enhance West Expo City’s exhibition capabilities and strengthen its capacity to host major international and domestic trade fairs and conventions. Our bureau will diligently fulfill its duties, coordinating the advancement of Phase II construction as well as its management and operations.
