Established in 1954, the Beijing Exhibition Center is the first large-scale and comprehensive exhibition center in Beijing, inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong and inaugurated by Premier Zhou Enlai. The exhibition center is located in the bustling commercial area of West直门ZhiMen, west of the Zoo Transportation Hub, east of the subway station and Beijing West Railway Station, north of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, and south of Financial Street and various central government departments, enjoying a superior geographical location. Covering an area of about 200,000 square meters, the center houses exhibition halls, North Exhibition Theater, Moscow Restaurant, North Exhibition Hotel, Star Lake Hotel, Capital Advertising Art Company, North Exhibition Travel Agency, and Moscow Restaurant Food Factory, with an exhibition area of 22,000 square meters. In 2000, the center completed the updating and transformation of all its equipment, currently serving as a comprehensive, modern exhibition center integrating exhibition, conference, accommodation, catering, entertainment, advertising, tourism, and food processing.
The Beijing Exhibition Center is committed to the professional development of the exhibition business. Since its establishment, it has hosted over a thousand large-scale domestic and international exhibitions, with hundreds of millions of visitors. The exhibition content covers various fields including international economy, trade, science and technology, culture, politics, and military. The Beijing Exhibition Center possesses the qualification as the host unit for holding domestic and foreign economic and technological exhibitions. In 2000, the venue was renovated and equipment upgraded, meeting the hardware standards for receiving international and modern professional exhibitions. In 2002, it passed the ISO9000 international quality standard system certification. In 2003, it established a joint venture with Messe Frankfurt Group to form Messe Frankfurt North Exhibition Company, specializing in the organization and implementation of international exhibitions. Currently, the Beijing Exhibition Center has developed into a comprehensive, modern exhibition center with exhibition and conference services at its core, complemented by diversified development in catering, entertainment, tourism, and hotels.
