Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center
The Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center is a large, state-of-the-art exhibition venue built with investment from the Ningbo Municipal Government and serves as the core exhibition area of the Ningbo International Trade Exhibition Center. Located in the heart of Ningbo’s six central districts, it lies at the nucleus of the Eastern New City Business District, enjoying convenient transportation links: just 5 kilometers from the entrances to the Shanghai–Hangzhou–Ningbo and Ningbo–Taizhou–Wenzhou expressways; 18 kilometers from Beilun Port, China’s second-largest port; and directly connected to the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, placing it only a two-hour drive from Shanghai, one of China’s major metropolitan centers.
Covering an area of 44.4 hectares, the center boasts a total floor space of 140,000 square meters, with 90,000 square meters dedicated to exhibition halls. It comprises eight ring‑shaped conventional exhibition halls, along with a conference building, a business center, and nine other structures, offering nearly 5,000 international standard booths. Each hall operates independently yet remains interconnected, creating a flexible layout that can accommodate events of varying scales—large, medium, or small.
In front of the main south entrance stands a spacious convention and exhibition plaza, where a 72-meter‑tall arrow‑shaped landmark tower rises along the central axis, often referred to as the “Steadfast Needle.” Towering skyward, this iconic structure complements the arched silhouette of the main exhibition hall, symbolizing the dynamic momentum driving the development of the Ningbo Convention and Exhibition Center.
To date, the first and second phases of the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center have attracted a total investment of RMB 1.04 billion. The overall development, construction, and operational management of the entire complex are undertaken by Ningbo International Trade Investment Development Co., Ltd. Established in February 2006, the company has registered capital of RMB 1.8 billion and total assets of RMB 3.2 billion. The Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center is operated and managed by Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ningbo International Trade Investment Development Co., Ltd.
As a premier showcase of Ningbo’s economy, culture, history, and developmental achievements, the center has hosted more than 300 domestic and international exhibitions since its completion and commissioning in 2002. Notable events such as the Zhejiang Investment and Trade Fair, the China International Consumer Goods Expo, the Ningbo International Fashion Festival, the China Food Expo, the Higher Education Instrument and Equipment Expo, and the China Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo have garnered widespread attention within the industry, establishing the center as a highly sought-after venue among second-tier convention and exhibition cities.
Beginning in 2004, the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center was among the first to be recognized as “China’s Best Exhibition Venue,” subsequently earning a series of prestigious accolades, including “Top Ten Outstanding Convention and Exhibition Centers in China,” “Most Highly Regarded Exhibition Hall Among Industry Professionals,” “National Top Ten Convention and Exhibition Centers,” “Best Management Award for Exhibition Venues in China’s Convention and Exhibition Industry,” and “Best Venue Award in China’s Convention and Exhibition Sector.” Through these honors, the center has progressively forged a distinctive path tailored to its own growth trajectory.
The Ningbo Municipal Government has designated the convention and exhibition industry as a strategic pillar of the city’s economic development. As the core zone of Ningbo’s Eastern New City Business and Convention‑Exhibition District, the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center also forms an integral part of the Ningbo International Trade Exhibition Center. Together with the Ningbo International Financial Services Center and the Ningbo International Shipping Services Center, it will serve as a key platform supporting Ningbo’s modern service sector.
